Steve Jobs, Connecting the Dots, and Mentors

You may not be able to “connect the dots” of the future for yourself, but does this mean it is not possible? If you want to move quickly in your career, keep in mind that mentors often already have a full picture of where your headed, because they have “been there”. They know what the dots are and how they connect. An excellent mentor also knows you well enough to see the dots as they personnally apply to you.

Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Computer, gave a well-known Commencement Address to the 2005 graduating class at Stanford University.

One of the stories he told was “Connecting the Dots”. It related to how dropping out of college gave him the freedom to “drop in” on a calligraphy class, and how 10 years later his love for calligraphy made its way to the first Mac. He said:

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.”

Because I have a traumatic brain injury (TBI), I have a lot of problem with my “dots”. It is comforting to know that even geniouses like Steve Jobs could not connect their dots ahead of time. No one else could have made that connection for Steve Jobs when he took that class.

However, there is a level at which we can get help with our dots, which is really useful. My experience has shown me that the “something” to “trust in” can be a mentor.

Why? Because my mentor has a vision for my capabilities, my future, and my success that I cannot see. He sees the dots as already being connected; it is completely clear. I see them scattered all about.

He has been guiding me to do certain things in a certain order, which I sometimes resist, because i don’t understand how it all relates. Often tremendous opportunities came together, all because I trusted in my mentor’s vision, and followed his instruction. In true Mr.90DayGoals fashion, he’ll say “It’s all part of the Plan.”

The bottom link is that, the only way to connect the dots looking forward, is to have these things in place:

1) A Vision or Goal that you need to do

2) A Mentor who can see the dots before you do

3) A large enough “Why” to go on, even when you cannot see the next step.

Mobsters – James Farley – "King of the Strikebreakers"

He started out as a simple alter boy in upstate New York, but during his fast and furious life, James Farley became known as “The King of the Strikebreakers.”

James Farley was born in 1874, in the sleepy town of Malone, New York, just miles from the Canadian boarder. Although he became an alter boy in a Malone Catholic Church, Farley was a rough and tumble kid, always looking for trouble and mostly finding it.

When he was 15 years old, Farley ran away from home and headed south in New York State. In 1889, Farley took a job with Frank Robinson’s circus. The circus ran its course in Middletown, New York, so Farley traveled to nearby Monticello, when he found employment at the Madison House. There he worked as a poolroom attendant, a clerk, and then a bartender. His bosses liked Farley’s intelligence and toughness, and soon he was made the manager of the Madison House.

One day, Farley needed some dental worked done. While he was sitting in the dentist chair, Farley accidentally swallowed a huge lump of cocaine, which was then used as a painkiller. Farley completely freaked out, and instead of getting his dental work completed, he bolted from the dentist chair, ran madly out of the dentist’s office, and disappeared into the nearby woods. For weeks, Farley lived like an animal in the woods, while the local police sent out a search party looking for him.

The effects of the cocaine overdose having finally wore off, and Farley knowing his managerial position at the Madison House was toast, headed further south, until he reached Brooklyn, New York. Farley’s first job in Brooklyn was as a rail guard for the Revenue Service, but soon Farley transferred to the the Brooklyn City Railroad Company, where he toiled in the power house, mostly shoveled coal.

In 1895, the relationships between the railroad workers union (District Assembly No. 75 Knights of Labor) and the Brooklyn City Railroad Company, had frazzled to the point where a strike was inevitable. There had been a collective bargaining agreement in place since 1886, which was renewed yearly. However, this time the owners insisted on bringing in non-union workers, who would work cheaper. The union would have none of that. So the owners employed “strikebreakers” to convince the workers, mostly by force, that the owner’s way was the right thing to do.

Farley, for some reason, abandoned his union, and started fighting for his bosses. During the riots between the union workers and the strikebreakers, according to various accounts, Farley was shot at, stabbed, hit with bricks, clubs, and baseball bats. And he had the scars to prove it. In the end, the owners won the battle, and the union was marginalized.

One local newspapers reported on the Brooklyn City Railroad Company, “Strikebreakers came from all parts of the country and as a result the railroad companies were able entirely to reorganize their working staffs. When the strikers sought to interfere with operations, 7,500 State troops were sent into the city at the request of the mayor. Cars began operating under military protection on January 22. Two soldiers rode on each car. In one encounter, shots were exchanged among strikers, strikebreakers, and troops; one man was killed and a number wounded.”

With the strikebreaking working in the owner’s favor, they looked kindly on Farley for the work he had done on their behalf. As a reward for his loyal service, the Brooklyn City Railroad Company put Farley in charge of fifteen special officers. And this was how Farley’s strikebreaking career began.

For the next seven years, Farley engaged in strikebreaking throughout the country, almost all of them having to do with the railroad industry. He hired men who were rough and tumble, and some of them carried guns, which they were not afraid to use. Farley paid them more than other agencies did for their strikebreaking activities, and this bought Farley a great bit of loyalty.

Farley himself set an imposing figure, with a Colt.38 revolver in a holster dangling on his right hip, like he was ready for a fight at the O.K. Corral. Farley smoked cigars like he was a chimney. Rumor had it that he smoked 50 cigars a day, usually fat maduro coronas from Havana, Cuba.

According to an article in the United Mine Workers Journal, Farley “Stood before his mercenaries, mostly tough lumpenproletarians from big city slums, ‘with the air of a potentate’, wearing a long Cassock overcoat. And the men looked up at him with gaping mouths.”

In 1902, Farley, having already broken many strikes, opened his own detective agency, which was in direction opposition to the more famous Pinkerton Detective Agency for the strikebreaking jobs. However, the Pinkertons were more diversified, while Farley stuck strictly to strikebreaking.

In 1905, just after the construction of the IRT subway system in New York City, the workers went out on strike. The owner of the IRT was August Belmont, one of the richest men in America. Belmont hired Farley to do the strikebreaking, and Farley and his men immediately went to work.

While the tension intensified between Farley’s men and the strikers, a reporter tried to interview one of the strikebreakers about Belmont’s strategies in ending the strike. The strikebreaker barked at the reporter, “Who the hell is Belmont? Farley is running the show.”

At the successful conclusion of Farley’s work for Belmont, Farley was reportedly paid the kingly sum of $300,000.

Farley’s biggest strikebreaking coup took place not in New York City, but more than 3000 miles away in San Francisco, California. Patrick Calhoun, an official of San Francisco’s United Railroad, contacted Farley in New York and implored Farley to come out west to handle the insurgence of the streetcar Carmen’s Union. On May 5, 1907, after their demands for an 8-hour work day and a salary of $3 a day was turned down by the San Francisco’s United Railroad, the Carmen’s Union went on strike.

On Tuesday morning May 7th, called “Bloody Tuesday,” the strikebreakers and the strikers finally met face to face. A brigade of Farley’s men were locked and loaded, and looking for trouble, as they stood inside six railway cars that had just pulled out of the Turk & Fillmore car barn. The six cars were immediately pelted by bricks and rocks thrown by the strikers. Rather than jump off the cars and engage in hand-to-hand combat, Farley’s men opened fire into the crowd, estimated at 300 people.

An eyewitness said the strikers “had been shot down like dogs.”

The police came in to squelch the riot, and were caught in the crossfire. When the dust cleared, three strikers had been shot dead and another dozen wounded. Two policemen were also shot, but they survived. As a result, the police arrested twelve of Farley’s strikebreakers, and charged them with murder or attempt to commit murder.

Farley and the San Francisco’s United Railroad turned out to be the big winners, when the following day, the union called off their strike and ordered their men back to work.

You would have thought, due to the rough, and sometimes deadly tactics Farley employed, he would have been portrayed in the press as somewhat of a thug and a gangster. However, that was not always the case. After the San Francisco railroad strike of 1907, the San Francisco Chronicle spoke of Farley in a soft tone as “a man who prefers hot blood to water as a beverage.” Newspapers throughout the country took Farley’s part, portraying him as a noble figure, protecting businesses against “communist agitators,” and “foreign bomb throwing activists.”

Farley himself hid behind the cloak of decency, when he claimed, that although he had broken up 50 straight strikes throughout America, in not one instance did he defend businesses that he considered to be in the wrong. Farley stated that, if after he examined the circumstances and determined that the worker were right in their actions, he would turn the strikebreaking job down flat.

However, Jack London, the most prominent journalist of that time, did not think so kindly of Farley. In London’s novel The Iron Heel, London even mentioned Farley by name. London, a left-wing union sympathizer, wrote that Farley, “Was an example of a pernicious trend, men who were ‘private soldiers’ of the capitalist…thoroughly organized and well armed…held in readiness to be hurled in special trains to any part of the country where labor went on strike or was locked out by employers. Strikebreakers were an ominous sign of bad times ahead.”

No matter which way you felt about Farley, one thing was true. He was paid millions by railroads companies, and irregardless of the brutal tactics Farley used, he did his job well.

However, Farley did not live long enough to enjoy all his money. Since his days in the circus, Farley had a fondness for horses. He invested huge sums of money in purchasing horses, both trotters and racers. He kept them in a huge farm he had bought in Plattsburgh, New York.

In 1913, Farley contracted a fatal case of tuberculosis. Farley knew he did not have long to live. Against his doctor’s orders, Farley had a cot placed on the grass of the Yonkers Race Track so that he could watch his horses in competition.

Farley said, “My horses are all I have to live for now.”

On September 11, 1913, a New York Times article said, “James Farley, the noted strike-breaker and horseman, died this morning at 12:10 am at his home in Plattsburgh, New York.”

Farley was 39 years old at the time of his passing.

Living and Breathing Rodeo

It is a way of life for me. When I am on the road headed to a rodeo or sitting behind the bucking chutes I feeling relaxed and at home. There is no other life that I would want to live besides the one I am living now. I travel all over the United States and see so many different places that I thought I would never see. Big cities, bright lights, pretty horses and fast women.

I have been rodeoing and going to rodeos since I could walk. The first rodeo I was in I rode a sheep in the muttin bustin contest in Florida and ended up riding my sheep the longest and was put in the local newspaper. My dad, my uncle and most of my cousins are also into the rodeo life and that is why it runs in my blood because I was raised around it. Now that I am older I drive to rodeos just about every weekend and compete to go to the finals at the end of the year where you can win up to $250,000.

At the rodeos I mainly ride bulls and team rope. Riding bulls is something that I have always done, but takes a lot of guts and pain to become a champion. I have broken my tailbone, pulled muscles in my back, and have had many other injuries, but in this sport you punch through those pains if you want to win. Making it big in the rodeo life is very difficult because you don’t sign a contract and as long as you compete you get paid. It is not like that at all. We have to pay for our own gas to travel up and down the road, pay our own entry fees, and if we don’t compete or we don’t win, we don’t make any money. So no matter how much pain you are in or how tired you are, if you need money and want money you have to put all those things behind you and get on. I also team rope which involves two people. There is a header that ropes the steers horns and a heeler that then ropes the steers back feet after the header catches. I mainly heel at big rodeos, but can switch sides and head every now and then.

The rodeo life is not for everyone. It takes guts and love and glory. You got to be dedicated and accept the fact that your not going to win every rodeo. Many people think that they are cut out to be a cowboy and live the rodeo life, but there is a select few that make it to the end. It is a hard life to live and most cowboys, especially bull riders are worn out and broken down by the age of thirty-five because of all the traveling every weekend and broken bones and bruises you have to deal with day in and day out. Like they say, “No pain, no gain!”

So that is how I live my life traveling up and down the rodeo to hopefully make a name for myself and make big money in the rodeo world. Gotta go, gotta go, gotta rodeo!

How to Apply Think and Grow Rich to Change Your Life!

Napolean Hill is a very intelligent man who dedicated 20 years of his life to study multi-millionaires and see with his own eyes how they become successful. Not only did he become very successful at accomplishing his goal, he also applied what he learned into his life and became extremely wealthy himself.

I have read Think and Grow Rich over five times and I have to say five is nothing compared to those who have read this book over sixty times. The power this book contains can change your life forever and I want you to get started today without any confusion and have a clear mind to where you are headed.

If you have read this book only one time, I suggest you to read it more than once in order to get a better understanding. When reading it the second time, keep a highlighter next to you and underline the best parts in the book.

For those who have already read this book more than once, I want you to take a pen and paper and draw a line on the paper. On the beginning of your line, put the year we are in. Below or above that line write how much money you want to make and put a deadline at the end of the line so you will know when that goal is going to be achieved.

Add what you will give in return to you accomplishing the goal. For example, I will imagine and believe myself already being in possession of the money, and I will take action every day until my goal becomes a reality.

Once you got your goal written down, take the paper and tape it somewhere in your bedroom, so when you go to sleep and wake up every morning, the written goal will be in front of you. Read your goal outloud to yourself three times every day with a very strong and positive feeling.

Next, take another piece of paper, and write down why you want to earn that much money. This will create a burning desire in you so you will burn the bridges behind you so there will be no going back.

Like Napolean Hill said, it is not just about hard-work. Of course, hard-work is a big part of being successful. But, there is vision, burning desire, faith/belief, and than the will to take action will come along.

Why Do Many Meditate?

So you decide that meditation can do wonders for you. You are headed in the right direction.

Why do many meditate?

Meditation is the best medication for all agitations. – Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji

It is, in a way, a tool. It helps alleviate stress, aids with chronic pain, fosters good physical health, can make you sleep better, be more peaceful, be present, feel happier.

On a profound level, it is a doorway to the unknown. Meditation helps us get a sense of who we really are.

Once you try meditating, you will notice how disruptive the mind is. You might be surprised! You might find your mind thinking about your plans about the future, then wander to the grocery items that you need to buy. Maybe you will find yourself thinking about a painful memory.

If you are just starting out, please don’t worry too much about not being able to focus. It’s natural. Eventually you will learn to tame your thoughts and find some peacefulness and clarity.

Below are some valuable tips for those on the quest to finding their inner selves through meditation.

1. Posture. Whether you are sitting cross-legged on the floor or on a chair, be sure that your head is up and your spine upright. Your mind will tend to drift if you are slumped. Remember, your body and mind is interconnected. A balanced body equates to a balanced mind. A good tip that will help you straighten up is to imagine that your head is touching the sky.

2. Eyes. Try to meditate with your eyes slightly open. This will help you be more present. Lower your eyelids and allow your gaze to be soft. Gauge your comfort level, as some people tend to focus more with their eyes closed. Do what you feel is best for you.

3. Breathing. Pay close attention to your breath, as this is most helpful in anchoring yourself in the present. Listen to your breath as it streams in and out. Let it flow naturally. An ancient meditation practice would be to count your breathing – silently counting, one, two, three, four, then returning home to one.

4. Silence. I know that there are lots of music designed to aid meditation, but nothing beats the simplicity and healing powers of silence. Sitting in silence allows you to experience your mind fully. There is a special calmness and steadiness only silence can give. As you meditate more, you’ll find a place where your inner and outer meets, allowing you to rest in the moment-self-awareness.

Enjoy meditation. Be kind to yourself. Start by spending time to meditate each day. Consistency is the key.

Disney Baltic Cruise

I would like to explain what my family and I did each day as we enjoyed our family vacation aboard the Disney Magic;

Day 1; We arrived at the port in Copenhagen, Denmark around 1:00pm, though you can board as early as 11am. We gave ourselves 3 hours to board (the ship sets sail at 4pm) so that we could explore Copenhagen before we left on our vacation. This day included us exploring the boat and signing up for kids clubs. One of the amazing things about Disney, is their kids clubs. They have rooms for different aged kids to go hang out in, participate in activities and make new friends. This gives parents a chance to have some time alone and know their children are safe and having fun. After exploring the boat, everyone came together at Deck 9 to set sail and have fun during “Mickey’s Sailing Away Party.” During this, everyone waves to the passengers staying in Copenhagen & dances along with Mickey & his friends on stage. Once this is over, we headed to the 6:30pm theater show. Depending on the dinner time you request (6:00pm or 8:30pm) you will either watch the theater show at 6:30pm or 8:30pm, the opposite time that your eating dinner. I absolutely love the shows. Disney does an amazing job coming up with themes and special acts to entertain their audience.

Day 2 was a “Day at Sea”, so that means we didn’t stop anywhere. We enjoyed our day watching Disney movies at Buena Vista Theater, participating in games at Vibe (a teen club), eating lunch at Cabanas (the buffet at deck 9), enjoying yet another theater show, & eating dinner at one of the three rotational dining restaurants (Lumiere’s, Animators Palate, or Cariocas.) Depending on your room card, you will rotate between these three different yummy restaurants. This night included Formal Dinner. This means we were encouraged to dress fancy (like dresses & skirts or suits for men.) Day’s at sea are, in my opinion, one of the best days on the boat. Disney provides their guests with the option of either Cabanas (the buffet on deck 9), Lumiere’s (one of the 3 rotational dining restaurants), or one of the quick service restaurants on deck 9. The quick service restaurants include Daisy’s Delights (a sandwich, salad, fruit, and cookie stand), Pete’s Boiler Bites (a hamburger, hotdog, taco, etc… american fare type of stand), and Pinocchio’s Pizza (a pizza stand where you can build any pizza you prefer.) Disney Magic does a fantastic job creating grade A food all day and making sure to cook the food in a fast manner, but keeping the flavor incredible. Now, the food is not the only reason I absolutely love day’s at sea. Though food is a key factor, Disney also provides their guests with a news article every night, allowing them to see what activities are brewing for them the next day (you also have the option of using their Disney Cruise Line app to see the activities and menus for each day.) This activities sheet is always filled with karaoke, newly released movies, workout games, and more during the days at sea. Disney makes sure their guests always have something fun and new to do on the boat, knowing some might get bored not having anywhere to dock.

Day 3 we stopped in Tallinn, Estonia. We arrived and walked Tallinn Old Town, which gave us a real idea of their culture. We also explored the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, The Estonian Maritime Museum (an old prison), and Fat Margarets Tower (a large building next to the ship.) Like most of you know, northern Europe has very sketchy weather. Knowing this, I packed a range of different clothes and layers. Tallinn stayed in the 60 degree F area during most of our visit, which was amazing. I wore leggings (lululemon), a tank top (lululemon), a long sweater (Madewell), and tennis shoes (New Balance.) My dad and brother were able to wear just shorts and a t shirt, so it really depends on your tolerance for cool weather. I am a small girl, so the wind was a little chilly for me, explaining the long sweater.

Day 4 we stopped in St. Petersburg, Russia. On this day, we decided to get a bus driver and a tour guide (Alla Tours.) St. Petersburg had multiple churches (Church of the Spilled Blood for example) and palaces (Catherine’s Palace), so we needed someone to help us find our way around. I recommend finding yourself a tour guide you trust (like Alla Tours), because during our visit to Catherine’s Palace (and a few other city monuments), the line wrapped around the building to get in, but our tour guide found a way to skip the line and sneak us in, in only 15 minutes. Like Tallinn, St. Petersburg’s weather was very strange. The morning was chilly and forced me to wear a scarf (Madewell) and a thick jacket (Madewell), but later in the day the temperature got warmer (maybe 67 degrees F) which allowed me to wear just a light rain jacket (Spice), because St. Petersburg did tend to sprinkle every so often. On this night, there was no theater show due to all aboard being at 11:30pm. This means, you had the option of staying out in Russia till 11:30pm or coming early and having dinner but no show.

Day 5 we stopped in Helsinki, Finland. This day was a bit shorter because all aboard was around 5pm. We decided to ride a carousel to see the town & take a boat ride to explore a small island with history about Finland (Suomenlinna.) We did not realize how large and historic Suomenlinna was, so we were unable to see all of its rich history. I recommend spending multiple hours here, if you decide to visit this location in Finland. This night included the Semi Formal Dinner. This means we had to dress up a little nicer than usual for our dinner, to take pictures. Disney does not require you to dress up any of the nights on cruise, but during these special nights, it is highly encouraged. I wore a mini skirt (Abercrombie & Fitch), a tank top (American Eagle), and sandals (Tory Burch.)

Day 6 we stopped in Stockholm, Sweden. This day was even shorter because all aboard was 3:30pm. We decided to visit the Armory & the Royal Palace next to it. If you are traveling with any boys or men, I recommend visiting the Armory. It was very cool for my brother and dad to see all of the military armor, weaponry, and royal carriages. We also purchased tickets for the Hop on Hop off bus, but it was very busy and packed (due to all the ships docked in Stockholm that day), I would not recommend buying a ticket for this bus in this town. This night Disney included “Anna & Elsa’s Frozen Deck Party”, which meant we all went up on Deck 9 before dinner to watch the Frozen characters dance and sing on stage. Disney also changed up their theater show on this night. Unlike their normal broadway style show, they provided us with a comedian show.

Day 7 was our final day, which means it was another “Day at Sea.” This day was a lot like Day 2, except that the cruise included activities like scrap booking all your memories & jack jack’s diaper dash (a race between babies who can crawl.) Usually my family and I prefer to eat lunch at Cabanas (the unlimited buffet is always nice), but on this day, my dad and I decided to try out Lumieres for lunch. I had the cuban sandwich and parmesan veal with pasta (two entrees were a must on this day) and my dad had the shrimp and pad thai noodles. Both meals were fantastic! Disney once again found a way to blow us away. Once the day was nearly to an end, we enjoyed the final show (Disney Dreams) & a dinner at Animators Palate (one of the three rotational restaurants.) After all was finished, the cruise wrapped up the day by having a “See you real soon” party in the Lobby Atrium on Deck 3. This show included a wave good bye to all the characters on board and a pin trading session (all the guests on board came together to trade their Disney pins.)

Day 8 was our final morning on the boat, which meant you went to breakfast at the place you had dinner at the night before or eat at Cabanas (the buffet on Deck 9.) For my family and I, we ate at Animators Palate once more. After eating the final meal on the ship, everyone disembarked and headed to the airport to fly home. Disney allows all of their guests to eat and explore the ship before leaving, which was nice because we didn’t feel rushed to get off the boat and let the new guests begin their vacation.

Nepal – History In The Dust

Namaste! We just got back from Nepal and I have tons of things to show everyone, but first, here are some facts about Nepal.

Nepal is a poor country. It has an area of 141,181 square kilometres and a population of 27 million. The nation’s capital and largest metropolis is Kathmandu.

Although Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal, it is an extremely dusty and filthy place. (No doubt about that!)

If you want to sugar coat that unpleasant thought, you can think of the beautiful mountains you’ll see when you reach Kathmandu. (Mount Everest is one of them!) We went on a group tour and had a local guide (Malaysian) and Nepalese guide guide us throughout the entire trip.

It took approximately 4 hours to reach Kathmandu from Kuala Lumpur. You can see the mountains while in the AIRPLANE.

The colors were beautiful, the mountains were majestic, the sky was amazing.

The toilets are not clean and some don’t even provide toilet papers. (Bring your own!) After coming out from the Tribhuvan International Airport, IT WAS COLD, but fear not, we came prepared!

Even so, the sun was burning hot.

It brought back memories of India. The cars at the car park were filthy and smeared in mud. There were many homeless people around.

It was cold and dusty at the same time, yet when we saw the post-card like mountain in the sky, everything else didn’t seem to matter.

The thing about these poor countries is that they show the true face of itself. Imagine tall, clean buildings shooting up everywhere. Nepal wouldn’t be Nepal anymore. All this filth, dirt, garbage and dust that you see are the essence of Nepal. The Nepalese people litter, spit, don’t flush… In my eyes, these are what makes them interesting.

Imagine everywhere you travel, all that you see are skyscrapers, modern buildings, clean toilets, clean streets, fashionable people, rich people… It’s NOTHING different. Truthfully, it’s BORING. Nepal showed me this reality. RIGHT! MOVING ON…

Captain Haddock introduced himself and greeted us by putting a red cloth around our necks. While waiting for my turn, I became really EXCITED and started giggling. (Travel excitement kicks in)

It was a traditional Nepalese way of welcoming.

After that, we headed to Bhaktapur (one of the oldest cities in Nepal).

It was a city filled with history. Later on, we headed to Pokhara.

Electricity in the restaurant of the Pokhara Hotel went off for 10 minutes. PITCH BLACK. I switched on my phone’s flash light and started taking some mustard. (Yes.. I expected that to happen)

There were many many beautiful stars in the sky. Among them we saw Orion The Hunter!

I’ve never seen a single constellation in my life, but there it was! The sky was just BEAU-TI-FUL. I wished I had a telescope. I’ve never, literally have never seen so many stars in my life.

I don’t regret coming to Nepal. I DON’T.

How To Write An Article – Effective Tips For Beginners

The internet is a source of several great initiatives that can make people earn quite a lot of money. Becoming a great and skilled article writer is one of the ways you can curve a career out of the internet and in turn earn quite well. Before you are able to become a good article writer you need to know what you can do if you would like to know how to write an article.

Knowing how to write an article is something that many people do not know about even though they claim to have been in the field for some time. Without the right tips, you will actually not see good results as much you ought to. Below are some tips you can take advantage of in order to become a great article writer.

1. Create a Catchy Heading or Title

People are usually swayed to read articles based on the title and heading that they see. If you create a very nice article and have a poor heading you will have no one clicking to read your well written article. Therefore think of a creative and appropriate heading or title that will attract readers and explain a little about what is in the article. Ensure that what is within the article is what the title describes. Do not make a title that is unrelated to the content of the article.

2. Let the Introduction Create Interest

After you have come up with a good title or heading it is now time to have your introduction. This section is very important because it is the reason why someone will either continue reading the article or simply forget about reading the rest of the article. When you are learning how to write an article, make sure that the introduction has some insight about what the reader should expect in the rest of the article. Do not say everything in the introduction but rather use to wet the appetite of the reader so that they can keep reading.

3. Have a well researched body

It is one thing to have a topic that you have to write about and it’s an entirely different thing knowing what exactly you are going to write about. Before you begin to write try to do some research. Home Based Business – What an Uneducated Woman Selling Ice-Cream Taught Me About Home Business

As a home based business owner, I am always striving to improve my business but lessons need not be learnt from the very top experts in the field, very often, great lessons can be learnt from paying attention to the little things.

As I got off the train and headed home, there was a nice old lady selling ice-cream by the roadside. That’s not a very uncommon sight in. For some reason, I decided to go over and buy myself an ice-cream.

“Hello, Auntie” said I. “I’d like to have some chocolate-chip ice-cream”.

She went on to ask me how I wanted it – in a cone, in a cup, in between slices of bread or between two waffle biscuits. I chose the bread. She opened a compartment in her cart and her hand disappeared into the compartment, only to appear a few seconds later with a big chunk of chocolate-chip ice-cream.

As she was preparing it, another customer came along and wanted to buy a drink. She pointed the customer to a styrofoam box on the side and the man fished around for a drink of his choice.

She finished with my ice-cream. I paid and I walked off. She then attended to her next customer.

As I walked and enjoyed my ice-cream, I realized that she did something remarkable. She’s making good money, yet, she’s not educated – I could tell in that short little interaction between us. It’s so simple but to me, it’s something that many people don’t understand.

First of all, she had positioned herself correctly – good location with a good product. She placed herself in a location where she had traffic and her sign was very obvious to the people heading towards her direction.

Second, she dominated her market with relevant products to sell to her customers. She also offered a variety of options for her customer to choose from instead of having only one format of delivery – same product, different delivery method.

Third, she focused on the customer in front of her instead of trying to please all customers. She focused on the one thing that was in front of her and served him (that’s me) to the best of her ability before dealing with the next one.

Lastly, she was non-intrusive and always present. She never once approached me to buy her ice-cream but nevertheless, I approached her to make a purchase. It had been because she had always been there and did her business, quietly “marketing” to me whenever I saw someone eating ice-cream right beside me.
