Etawah: Important Center for the Revolt of 1857, BUT NOW FORGOTTEN

What an irony that the SPELLING of the starting point of Revolt of 1857 is still unchanged! ITAWA (the way it’s spelled in HINDI) was wrongly spelt by the Brits as Etawah just like their peculiar spellings of Munghyr (Munger in Bihar) and Cawnpore (today’s Kanpur). Alas, no one cared for this small town from where Sepoy Mutiny began and escalated into India’s first war of independence. To show my respect to the place and as a humble tribute to it, I’ll spell it ‘correctly’ throughout my article and write ITAWA and not the silly ETAWAH.

In this historically-challenged country, one doubts whether anyone has heard of this rather backward town in UP. Ask a metro-based youngster or even his/her dad/mom, anything about ITAWA and they’ll give you a blank and vacant look as if ‘Ye aap kya poochh rahe hain’? (What the hell are you asking?). Such is the ignorance because the writer of this piece recently asked a 23-year-old young girl in Delhi whether she heard the name of Mangal Pandey (the first hero of Revolt of 1857 who was hanged by the Brits on April 8, 1857)? Her nonchalant reply shuddered me: Mangal Panday, kaun? (Who was Mangal Pandey?)

ITAWA is in the vicinity of Eta (again misspelled by the English as Etah). Eta (the proper spelling), Mainpuri and ITAWA are almost cluster towns and the modern India knows about them as Dacoit-Belt! Again a degenerated irony.

ITAWA’s collector during the Revolt of 1857 was A O Hume who later became the founder and head of the Congress in 1885. Hume loved India and its people. As a collector of ITAWA, Hume wrote to the East India Company’s head Sir Christopher Collins in Calcutta (no ‘Kolkata’ for me; we can change the names of the big cities because those names were given by the Brits, but can’t change the spelling and name of ETWAH to ITAWA) that the oppressive rule of East India Company and because of its corrupt officers, a revolt by the Indians was on the anvil. And that happened. Hume was a humane British officer who empathised with the poor Indians and requested that Mangal Pandey’s life be spared. Yet, he was hanged (publicly) to set a deterrent for other Indians.

ITAWA is famous for its Lion Safari. It’s home to Asiatic lions (originally from Gir, Gujarat). Lions move freely whereas the visitors move in caged paths. National Chambal Sanctuary is also here. Agra-ITAWA cycle highway (207 km long) is Asia’s first cycle highway. It’s one-of-its kind project.

ITAWA has moderately good schools and colleges, but nothing remarkable. There’re not very good hotels and restaurants here. But there are reasonably good lodges in ITAWA and roadside eateries provide tolerably good meals. The town needs a huge revamp to become a city of renown.

Years ago, Indian President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad suggested that ITAWA ought to have a museum dedicated to Revolt of 1857. The remnants of that important event have not been preserved properly.

I’ve been to ITAWA ( Pin Code 206001 ) and felt nostalgic. Somehow, I could relate to the place as I’ve always been a keen student of history, esp. modern Indian history beginning from 1857 till date of murky politics.

Visit this place and don’t forget to pay a tribute to those unnamed revolutionaries who laid down their lives for us:

When you go home

Tell them with sorrow

That we’ve given our today

For their tomorrow.

Always remember this if ever you go to ITAWA.

The Secret To Manifesting The Law Of Attraction

Most people around the world want to know what is the secret to manifesting the Law of Attraction popularised by the movie and book ‘The Secret’. The thing is, though, not everyone knows what ‘The Secret’ really is. They might know bits and pieces here and there, but not what the full message is.

What ‘The Secret’ left out is that for the Law of Attraction to work fully, the other forgotten laws must be put in place too, otherwise you are wasting your time. The highly successful people in this world became so successful because they uncovered the forgotten laws.

But what are these laws really? To put it simply, state that the more positive things you do the greater is your chance to be rewarded by the Universe with even more positivity.

All these laws are crucial because they work together to achieve your desired outcomes. They do not work independently of each other, because they are a summary of the principles by which our entire Universe operates from. This is the main reason as to why most people are unable to utilise this law properly.

For you to have the Universe ‘on your side’ it is imperative to have all the laws that govern the Universe. This way you are assured success, happiness and fulfillment in all areas of your life. For you to be joyous, successful, happy and fulfilled, you have to apply all the laws, every single one of them. No exception.

Make the forgotten laws a habit to manifesting all that you desire and more.

The Mega Set – The Forgotten Set

Most people who train with weights can be split into 2 categories: those who want to gain size, and those who want to gain strength. Both of these are great goals and have very specific workout routines, exercise and sets. The type of training I almost never see in the gym is muscle endurance.

For most of us, our gym goals don’t lead to the Mr. Olympia stage, or the Olympic Games Power-lifting Arena. Yet we tend to ignore the most practical exercises. Shovelling your driveway for 30 minutes does not require a 400lb bench press. Carrying your 3 year old all day through the zoo doesn’t require 21 inch biceps. What most day-to-day activities require is muscle endurance: the ability to move a medium amount of weight for an extended period of time.

My first introduction to this type of set was through my Russian mixed martial arts coach. He used to say to me “What good is a 300lb bench press if you can only do one? In a fight, you might have to chest press your opponent off you for 10 minutes.” I am paraphrasing here because he spoke broken English with a thick Russian accent, but he was right! I could move a large amount of weight for a few reps, but at ½ my max I fatigued after about 20 reps. With about 8 weeks of specialized training I was racking that same weight from boredom after 60 reps. Then we moved on to circuits of mega-sets, but that’s a story for another time.

Forgotten Dreams 26

WE’RE MILES APART

We’re miles apart – in distance and in differences of heart

I live in lands of vastness, desert, gorges, beaches, sea

You dwell in tidy, safeness of small village, field and lea

A gentle spirited land where ours is harsh, vivid, bold

Yours once our Motherland, steeped in cultured traditions old.

Our eyes see unending blueness of sky as with our minds

We explore the future to shape the future of mankind

You are more inclined to let the sight dwell on things of yore

Though there are things we still share of Anglo Saxon core

We, once your Colony, now grown independent, mature

We love heat, you dwell in cold, we seek the new, you the old

You are the north; we are the south in hemispheres great part

Miles between us are thousands across land and nature’s heart

Mountains, rivers, plains, seas do all divide us, make us twain

Yet soul and thought could make us merge by mental bond again

Our differences mean little when we share the same of life

Of family life and every human joy and human pain

We share same loves, hates, trials of human days and human hours

We share same moment’s rest- in cuppa tea, delight in flowers

And read the self same magazine – the present bond and strand

You in your cool world and me in my heat hazed, wide brown land.

WHAT A PITY TO LIVE IN A CITY

What a pity to live in a city

Instead of back there on the farm

What a pity to live in a city

Where we never feel safe from harm

What a pity to live in a city

With evil smells and cramped places

Instead of out there in the green paddocks

In wide, wind-swept open spaces

What a pity to live in a city

Where we seldom hear song of bird

Instead of the beautiful country sounds

Even sound of silence is heard

It’s a shame we must live in a city

Where there is rush, traffic and din

Instead of peaceful, open countryside

Free space such a joy to be in

What a pity to live in a city

Where people all stressed dwell inside

Instead of a life with no such pressure

Where people have leisurely stride

What a pity to live in a city

When one could live close to the land

There we all grow our own natural food

In organic rich soil and sand

The country lifestyle to some seems unreal

It’s commerce that so rules their day

But I just wish from all commerce to steal

Finding city life has no charm

What a pity we’ve had to live in a city

When we’re all yearning to be back on the farm!

……………….

WHEN DREAMS ARE REAL

In magic moments of time they come

Rare flashes of joy unsurpassed

Moments of thrill when all seems so well

Light-filled gift of our soul’s insight

We discern bridge ‘tween dream and the real

Mind mirror that oft confuses

Blissful the minutes of purest joy

When dream and real are united.

……………..

WHEN YOUR LIFE BECOMES A MERRY-GO-ROUND

(Song)

When your life becomes a merry-go-round,

Mechanical as can be

And you find that all you’re thinking of

Is breakfast lunch and tea

Then put down tools, and take a breath and come along with me

We’ll fly in the sky, as our spirits take wing

And all that we’re wishing to do is just sing

We’ll fly up so high in the clear azure sky

That we’ll feel giddy and thrill with the sight

We’ll look to magical glint of the snows

On mountain tops crystal that no one else knows

The world of our yearnings takes shape as we soar

To the far land of our true heart’s desire

The wings of desire will give us the power

To go beyond hates, and fears and their glower

Let’s feel our spirits free of day or the night

Yield to our high flying, giddy delight

Feel the pull, the strain, on our mem’ries again

We’re recalling family, and friends back on earth

Like a magnet we’re drawn to habit’s old groove

We plummet to earth in great sweeping curve.

To arrive at our home base again…

But when your life again seems a merry-go-round

Mechanical as can be

Remember then there’s more to life

Than breakfast, lunch and tea

Recall the wonderful world up above

And come fly up here freely with me!

WHERE ARE ALL THE GOOD GIRLS NOW?

Where are the damsels, pretty maids

And happy, homely good girls now?

Where are the shining tresses, curtsies, bows,

Soft draperies and virgin vow?

Where are all the good girls now?

Where are the sweet sighs, and blushes

And tender, shy sidelong glances?

Where all the rhythmic, romantic dances?

Finer feelings, gentle entrances

Of virtuous maidenhood?

Where are the many good girls now?

Ones who call on men to honour,

Protect, to cherish and take to wife

Those whose fair beauty stir’s man’s soul

Where, in fact is the soul life now?

Where are grace and noble hearts, maidens pure – quite apart

From this dull day of graceless wit and clumsy, hurtful social chit

The most delightful times which attended days where men knew

Sweet maiden charms of grace and talent, talk, soft sighs

Where softness, gentle and dreamy eyes

Bliss melted men’s souls in heaven’s skies!

If we still yearn to feel and know

Those beautiful days of long ago,

Where girls were shy and must be won

By strong fair knight and noble son

Then surely we could simply look

To Nature’s show of night and day

And come what may, men shine as day

Girls glow soft in Love’s sweet, subtle play……………

The 11 Forgotten Laws – The Law of Non-Resistance – What This Law is & Why It’s So Important

The Law Of Non-Resistance states that “What You Resist Persists.” The more you hate or dislike a certain thing, the more difficult it will be to remove from your life.

The Law of Non-Resistance is one of 11 Forgotten Universal Laws, and is the one law that is most often forgotten and neglected. Yet mastering this law can dramatically improve your life.

When you learn how to be in harmony with the 11 Forgotten Universal Laws your life become easier, you’ll achieve your goals faster and overall success will be that much easier.

Regardless of your upbringing and circumstances I’m certain that you want to progress and succeed in life, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this article. It’s only natural to want to improve yourself and your life. Yet most of u haven’t achieved the level of success that we desire and this can be very frustrating.

You may be in a situation you hate and that you are resisting, not realizing that it is this very resistance that is keeping you stuck and preventing you from moving forward in your life.

You need to able to accept yourself and your present circumstances as is. This doesn’t mean that you don’t want to improve or to achieve or have more. But you need to accept that this is the way things are now. And you need to learn to be happy right now and not postpone your happiness for some time in the future when you have achieved all of your goals and dreams.

This isn’t easy, but it’s vitally important. Because until you stop resisting the negative situation will persist in your life.

You need to understand that where you are right now is a result of your past thoughts, feelings and actions. And when you resist this present state you are giving energy to it.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was spot on when he said

“The only thing that grows is that which you give energy to.”

What The Law Of Non-Resistance teaches is that you have to embrace where you are right now, give yourself credit for all your past achievements while looking forward to an even better future.

How do you know if you are resisting your current situation? Take some time to think of the typical thoughts that run go through your mind when you are resisting your current situation:

I’m such a loser.

I hate my life.

My life is such a disappointment.

I’m not good enough.
I’m so fat and ugly.

These are all negative, disempowering thoughts will take you further away from your dreams.

When you are in a state of resistance your mind and body are engaged in a conflict. There is an tremendous inner struggle. Any positive thoughts you have or affirmations you may do are countered and neutralized by these negative, resisting thoughts.

Can you see now why The Law Of Attraction isn’t working for you?

You life will not improve until you improve the quality of your thinking.

Actively practicing the Law of Non-Resistance will make you calmer, more focused and a lot more confident about achieving your goals and dreams. You no longer waste your precious mental energy fighting your current life. Instead you will find a way to positively deal with whatever challenges come your way and use them as stepping stones to a better life and a better you.

The Law of Non-Resistance is just one of 11 Universal Laws that silently govern all of our lives. These laws were created to impart order and harmony to the Universe. You cannot break these laws, you can only break yourself by not applying them. Chaos, confusion and pain result from not applying these 11 Universal laws in your life.

But do you even know these laws or how to successfully integrate them into your life? Because without a full and working knowledge you will only be a fraction of the success you can be.

The Law of Increase – The 5th of the Bob Proctor 11 Forgotten Laws

The Law of Increase is a simple concept. Of course, as with many things, the Law of Increase may be simple, but it is not always easy. Although we may understand it intellectuality, it may take some time be able to “get” it at a deeper level; in other words, for it to go from our heads to our hearts.

The Law of Increase could just as easily be called the law of praise or gratitude. Praise is the action and increase is the result. This is a law, like the other 11 Forgotten Laws, that is a principle based on the predictable consequences of an act or condition. Just like the law of gravity that predicts when we throw something in the air it will come down, the Law of Increase states that what we give attention to will increase.

If we give attention to what we don’t want, that will increase. If we give attention to what we do want, that will increase. And when we give positive attention in the form of praise or gratitude, the Law of Increase is given added power.

This works with money, plants, children, or anything in our lives. When we see and praise what good we see in our relationships, like with our spouses for instance, those things we appreciate grow. Everybody likes to be appreciated and when we acknowledge that appreciation, people respond positively.

Although some people still think it’s crazy, it’s been shown that talking to plants makes them grow or increase. It is the praise that causes the Law of Increase to activate.

This is different from the Law of Attraction. With the Law of Attraction we see and trust our good, what we desire, as already supplied to us in the realm of energy. The Law of Increase concerns seeing what we already have in the physical realm and focusing on that positively with praise. Learning to see past the negative and focus on the positive is a skill.

In order to have the Law of Increase set in motion we have to learn to see and appreciate. Living in a world which focuses on bad news, scarcity and fear, it can be a challenge to learn to see and appreciate what is right in front of our noses. But to utilize the real power of the Law of Increase, we also need to learn to praise those things we have that are not exactly the way we wish they were.

For instance, if we have a small amount of money in our bank account, how many of us have learned to praise and appreciate what we have rather than complain about how little we have.

The trick of appreciating what we have while at the same time using the power of our thoughts to attract seems impossible, but it’s not. Once we have learned how to integrate all of the Laws of the Universe in the 11 Forgotten Laws, this seeming paradox comes quite easily.

The Law of Increase shows us that whatever we can see in the realm of the physical and focus on increases. Learning to actually see and appreciate the good of what we already have is not always easy at first but it is worth it. With the application of the Law of Increase our success in using the Law of Attraction is sped up.

The New Forgotten War

Some might argue that a “just war” is oxymoronic but after 9/11, the Afghanistan war was, in my view, a just and righteous engagement. I felt the same way about the Gulf War when Iraq invaded Kuwait. As the Northern Alliance hooked up with our forces, it appeared we were on the way to accomplishing our goals in Afghanistan and our campaign seemed to have been perceived as a success. Reinforcing this perception, our policy makers and spin meisters told us we have nothing more to fear since al Qaeda and its sponsoring regime, the Taliban, were now gone, and the country had a new, pro-Western government. Unfortunately, the facts manifestly suggest otherwise.

All of a sudden, news about Afghanistan is moving from page 8 to page 4 in the newspapers. All of a sudden, the related Google sites have increased. All of sudden, journalists from the front are reporting that the war is intensifying. What started as a righteous and justified action after 9/11 has become what some are calling a half-hearted war. Despite spin to the contrary, we have failed to crush the Taliban and al Qaeda, nor have we rendered their ideology–Islamic totalitarianism–a lost cause. Instead, the Bush administration’s reluctance to fight more decisively, if not ruthlessly seems to have increased the enthusiasm of jihadists.

The proof is in the pudding. As this piece is being written, the U.S military is quietly carrying out the largest military offensive in Afghanistan since our troops invaded that country in 2001. “The Taliban has made a comeback, and we have the next 90 days to crush them,” said a senior U.S. Military official. The offensive, “Operation Mountain Thrust,” involves almost 11,000 U.S. Troops and is focused on four southern Afghanistan provinces.

“Comeback,” Indeed. The Taliban has re-emerged and its spiritual leader, Mullah Mohammed Omar, remains at large, probably in Pakistan where our soldiers cannot operate. Armed with a storehouse of lethal weapons, the Taliban and al Qaeda soldiers have renewed their offensive. Boosted by money from the drug (opium) trade and recruiting fighters, they are fighting fiercely to regain power. In recent weeks they have mounted a string of suicide and rocket attacks against American and NATO forces; in fact, more U.S. Troops have died in Afghanistan in the last 18 months than did during the height of the war. Taliban forces have besieged several southern provinces and officials estimate that in some, the number of Taliban is far greater than that of the police and Afghan National Army. Taliban are even said to walk boldly through villages brandishing Kalashnikovs.

How can it be that four years after the war began, Taliban and al Qaeda fighters are once again becoming a serious threat? Well for one thing leaders such as Mullah Omar “do not exert power the way a military general does,” Seth Jones, an analyst for the California-based think tank RAND Corp., wrote in the spring edition of the journal Survival. Instead, they leave “tactical and operational” control to local cells, “which act as franchises.” As we learned after 9/11, Al-Qaeda operates in the same way.

Clearly, the loose alliance opposed to the Karzai government and the U.S-led reconstruction has not been destroyed nor has its spirit been crushed. With moral fortitude, It as regrouped and launched a bold comeback for any of number of reasons including, but certainly not limited to the following:

1) First and foremost, the seemingly endless (and, for many, questionable) war in Iraq has distracted the U.S from the difficult job of suppressing the Taliban and rebuilding Afghanistan. Iraq has sucked up resources and money that could better have been deployed to Afghanistan.

2) The rules of engagement are terribly unclear and confusing. In this regard, some argue that victory in Afghanistan calls for two things: a) that we had to destroy the Taliban by focusing exclusively on capturing or killing them and B) that we had to ensure that a non-threatening, non-Islamic regime take its place. But others contend we must be more strategically tentative and pursue Taliban fighters only if we simultaneously show “compassion” to the Afghans. They add that our purpose in being in Afghanistan is not to superimpose our style of government on the Afghan people. Adding to the confusion, some counties allied with the U.S in Afghanistan will fight; other will not.

3 The Taliban know that Afghans citizens are not likely to risk their lives to support the Karzai government, which many view as corrupt. Afghanistan’s current problem may be as much about the the weak institutions of the government as it is about the strong enemy.

4) The insurgents have found a safe haven in Pakistan, remaining beyond the reach of Afghan and international security forces. Ostensibly, the Pakistan government’s pro-Taliban policy changed under U.S. Pressure after 9/11, but the key word is here is “ostensibly,” and Karzai knows this all too well.

The Insurgents seem to be betting that the West doesn’t have the political fortitude to remain for the long haul. However, it Is submitted that deploying troops to support President Hamid Karzai’s government and keeping them there is, I believe, a sacrifice worth making. After all, 9/11 demonstrated what happened the last time the world community abandoned Afghanistan. Whatever philosophical road we follow and no matter how we reconcile our rules of engagement, It’s time for the Bush Administration to pick up the pace (and “Operation Mountain Thrust” is a good start). At the least, we owe that much to our soldiers who are fighting there. Afghanistan must not become a forgotten war.

“Too bad we didn’t get distracted with other adventures. Think how Afghanistan ‘could’ have been the shining light of democracy in the Middle east. Alas, if only they had more oil.” Posted on the web on June 20, 2006 at 4:22:53 PM by someone named kharma

Early History Of This Corona Virus, Discoverer, How, When, Forgotten, Dominance In 2020

It is time to answer all the questions raised in the beginning of this article.Corona virus was discovered by a Scottish woman scientist June Almeidahalf a century ago. (information acknowledged to Sydney Combs, National Geographic) published in April 18, 2020.

June Almeida was born Hart, she lived wth her family in a tenement building in Glasgow, Scotland, where her father worked as a bus driver. She was a bright student with ambition to attend university, but money was scarce. At 16, she left school and started working as a laboratory technician at Royal Infirmary, where she used microscopes to help analyze tissue samples.

After moving to similar job at St. Batholomew’s Hospital in London. There she met her husband, Venezuelan Enriques Almeida. The pair immigrated to Canada. Mrs. Almeida got a job working with electron microscopes at the Ontario Cancer Institute in Toronto. There she developed new techniques and published many papers describing the structures of viruses previously unseen.

New way of seeing with the electron microscope:

She developed simple, yet revolutionary methods in the field of virology. When working with microscopic particles, it is hard to know exactly what to look for. An Electron microscope blasts a beam of electrons and record the particles interactions with the specimen surface. Since electrons have much shorter wave lengths than light, this shows scientists with an image with much finer, smaller detail. The challenge is discerning if a tiny blob is a virus, a cell, or something else.

To solve the problem, Almeida realized she could use antibodies taken from previously infected individuals to pin point the virus. Antibodies are drawn=to their antigen counterparts–so when Almeida introduced tiny particles coated in antibodies they would congregate around the virus alerting her to its presence. This pioneering method was used as a tool in electron microscopy by clinicians who studied infection of viruses.

She went on to identify, a host of other viruses, including rubella, that causes complications in pregnancies, causes three day measles, Almeida was the first to see and record it. She remembered viruses while looking at bronchitis in chickens and while studying hepatitis liver inflammations in mice.

Later, while helping Dr. David Tyrrell of Salisbury, Wiltshire, Ameida found, and created the clear images of the virus and she was confident that these viruses were a new group of viruses. It had a halo like structure and was named Corona.. Today’s Corona virus was born with the identification by Almeida 50 years ago.

Retired from Virology, Almeida remained active and curious. She became a yoga teacher, restored fine china, a sharp eye for antiques. An Emeritus Professor of Bacteriology at the University o Aberdeen, Hugh Pennington described Almeda as his mentor. “Without doubt she is one of the outstanding Scittish scientists.of her generation.”

Now sadly forgotten, ironically, this Corona outbreak has shone a light again on her work in the 21st century. Almeida’s work is more relevant now.

The Law of Supply – The 2nd of the 11 Forgotten Laws – You Must Know About This Law to Succeed

What is The Law Of Supply and why is it so important to your ultimate success? The underlying premise of The Law Of Supply is that God (or The Universe, if that’s what you prefer) is the source of all supply. And because God is the source of all supply, there is no shortage in the Universe. There is a never ending supply for all our needs.

The Law Of Supply also goes on to state that when there is a demand for something, the resources needed to create it are available.

There has to be a demand first before we can be aware of the supply. For example, the raw materials to create a motor vehicle has been present in the earth since the dawn of mankind. But it was only once man ‘s mind broadened to imagine this sort of transport could a demand for it be created. And once the demand was there, man became aware of the raw materials (supply) needed to build the car.

In Raymond Holiwell’s book, Working With The Law (The highly acclaimed 11 Forgotten Laws Program is based on this book) he tells the story of a dairy farmer who owned and operated a small dairy farm outside of Pittsburgh. The poor farmer worked hard to eek out a living from what appeared to be barren land.

One day he noticed several men who had been examining the adjacent land walk across his fields. With budding curiosity, he watched them studying the scum and slime in the stream that ran across his farm. He was baffled as to why they would be interested in this.

A few weeks later a man called him and offered him a fabulous price for the farm. He jumped at the opportunity and sold the farm. He moved to Canada and bought another farm.

A few weeks later some strange contraptions were set up on the farm. Word spread that the new owners had struck oil.

Meanwhile, the farmer continued to work struggle and work hard and he eventually died poor.

Raymond Holiwell uses this story to illustrate the point that God supplies us with all that we need. But because we don’t know how to tap into this we remain poor. He says “Man will ever be poor as long as he demands of life a meager living and sees in it struggle, toil, hardship and limitation.”

Right now, in the midst of the recession, most people are anxious and worried about money. The media bombards is daily with how bad things are and how much worse they’re going to get. But anxiety and worry are detrimental to us. It limits our supply of abundance and prosperity.

We need to alter our mindset from a poverty-consciousness to an abundance-consciousness. And that’s easy to do once we realize that God, or the Universe or the economy isn’t limiting our supply. We are.

Wealth does not come from the vocation you choose. There is money to be made in any field or profession. Look around you. You’ll see poor doctors and rich doctors, lawyers who are struggling to make ends meet and those who are thriving. The difference between those who are successful and those who are not lies in their mindset and thinking.

Book Reviews – The Lost Hall of Records – Edgar Cayce’s Forgotten Record in the Ancient Yucatan

What is a myth? Perhaps it’s a story that isn’t true on the outside, but is true on the inside. The tension between what our heart’s intuition tells us and what we can actually experience on the outside is a source of great creativity and development, both personal and for the human race. Cayce’s story of the history and destiny of humanity is a lesson here. Not only does his story include our spiritual creation and its purpose, but also the external history of life on planet earth, including predictions about major changes ahead. Is this story a myth? For many of those who contemplate it, his story is stimulating and spiritually fulfilling, which is what a good myth should be. But Cayce presents his story as being literally true. Did things really happen the way he tells it?

One of the fascinating aspects of his story concerns the existence of “Halls of Records,” where this history is recorded. He said that one such Hall of Records was in Yucatan, Mexico. Furthermore, he said that at this site, there was also evidence of another key element in Cayce’s story – the (in)famous “Firestone Crystal” of Atlantis, which was their source of power, but which had been misused and helped bring down that civilization.

I vividly remember discovering the Edgar Cayce material and having my imagination sparked as never before by the story of the Firestone and its connection with Mayan imagery. Soon I was making pilgrimages to Yucatan to search for the Hall of Records. Whereas the external search was expensive and proved beyond my skill range, an inner search was also in progress and was more rewarding.

I developed a symbolic meaning for the Firestone crystal; namely, that there is a dormant power of consciousness that can be awakened in spiritual community. Through group dream work (such as Atlantic University’s Sundance: The Community Dream Journal) and interpersonal intuition of the heart, I was able to verify the tremendous creative power and wisdom that may be unleashed through cooperation when individuality is given equal footing with the unitive effort. As I became more involved with researching the inner meaning of the Firestone, my fascination with Yucatan and prehistory faded.

But today I am inspired to turn about, to look again with interest toward the outer side of the story. What motivates this revival comes through the publication of a significant book, The Lost Hall of Records: Edgar Cayce’s Forgotten Record in the Ancient Yucatan (Eagle Wing Books). The authors, John Van Auken, a past executive director at A.R.E., and Lora Little, Ed.D., a psychologist, have spent years correlating information in the Edgar Cayce material with archaeological findings. In their meticulously researched book they have integrated a panoramic view of Cayce’s spiritual story with scientific findings that take the story out of the realm of pure myth and into the realm of history. Archaeological research, including advances in the interpretation of Mayan hieroglyphs and what they reveal about the Mayans’ astonishing astronomical observations, has made it possible as never before to suggest that Cayce’s story just might be true on the outside. Moreover, Van Auken and Little’s research has made a significant breakthrough that makes their book as newsworthy as it is inspiring.

A key point in Cayce’s remote viewing of the Mayan archaeological findings concerned some artifacts, emblems of the Firestone, that were stored in the University of Pennsylvania museum. Previous investigations had failed to locate these artifacts in the museum’s collection. The authors make a strong case, however, that the artifacts in question were those found in the ruins known as Piedras Negras, a Mayan site in Guatemala.

Though not in the state of Yucatan, Mexico, but part of the Mayan civilization in the general area of the Yucatan peninsula, nevertheless Piedras Negras could easily be described by Cayce’s psychic perception as “Yucatan.” Making this slight shift in focal point has unleashed a provocative set of new findings. Although there isn’t space here to detail all the nitty gritty that the authors combine to paint a credible hypothesis about the external validation of Cayce’s story, suffice it to say that they’ve excited me again to the possibility that there just might be a Hall of Records in that tropical jungle, as well as a model of the Firestone crystal.

I am reminded of Cayce’s statement that the records would Ibe found and could be read only when the consciousness of the seeker matched the contents of those records. The lesson for me is that while an inner search is important, not to be forgotten is that it is equally important to look to the outer reality. Maybe it is time for me to make a return trip to the Mayan ruins to see what I shall see.
