Lincoln Mark IV: Not Just Another Replacement

From the Ford Motor Company’s luxury division, the Lincoln brand has introduced to the world the Lincoln Mark IV. In the United States and the rest of North America, this vehicle was actually sold and marketed from 1972 up until 1976. It replaced the Mark III although it was already successful that time. Later on, the Mark V replaced this vehicle. For most parts and most of the specifications, the Lincoln Mark IV and the Ford Thunderbird were very much alike. Even the platform was shared by the two vehicles.

By taking a look at the style and design that the Lincoln Mark IV has, one could be able to see that most of the motifs and angles are just like the Lincoln Mark III. These include the tall Rolls Royce style grille, the fashionable long hood short deck style, the covered headlamps, the “spare tire hump” found in the trunk, and the taller and knife-edged fender line. As per the grille, the Lincoln Mark IV’s version is much taller. And to allow this kind of adjustment, the close fitting bumpers were dipped. The “spare tire hump” was more rounded and from thereon, the lines led further down the vehicle. As per measurements, though, the Lincoln Mark IV came out to be longer and wider. The angles were slightly softened out and made more rounded. The wheel openings were made to be symmetrical front to rear like in the Oldsmobile Tornado inspired style that was popular that time. The Lincoln Mark IV also held a vinyl roof.

The power of this machine and vehicle comes from a 460 cubic inch or 7.2 liter Ford 385 series V8 engine. On its introduction, it has been that this vehicle could prove to produce and create some 212 units of horsepower or 158 kW. To assist this engine, the Lincoln Mark IV also came with a C6 3 speed automatic transmission system.

In 1976, Lincoln took a gamble and made the Designer Series. When it was introduced that year, the Lincoln Mark IVs under this series were actually holding colors, trims, and interior choices designed by fashion designers. Each of the designer signed at the opera window, plus a name engraved on the gold plated plaque on the instrument panels. There were four designers that time that took their time to show off their craft using Lincoln Mark IV. The series comprised of the Bill Blass Edition, the Cartier Edition, the Givenchy Edition, and the Pucci Edition.

Another ‘Great Recant’ Cuts Social Theory

December 10, 1975

In our continuing series of Great Recants, that pronounced recently by former Ohio Governor John J. Gilligan has to rank near the top.

The once-vocal champion of labor-liberal causes startled his fellow Democrats at a recent National Issues Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, by blasting a trio of popular programs – a national health proposal, federal involvement in environmental protection, and federal housing and community development.

“Heretical as it may sound to some, I am very reluctant to see the federal government launch a nation-wide health insurance program simply on the grounds that in the decade since Medicare and Medicaid have appeared, we have poured millions into the health care delivery system without improving materially either the level of health or its availability for most American families,”
said Gilligan.

He went on to suggest that most of these federal programs could be better handled on a state or regional level. Inasmuch as this position is exactly that of Presidential Hopeful Ronald Reagan, the convention delegates were flabbergasted.

“I guess it is a departure from some of my previous thinking,” Gilligan said, “but there are many things I believed in ten years ago when I was in Congress that now have proved not to work.”

The aplomb with which dogmatic opinion leaders whirl 180 degrees when their assertions fail never ceases to amaze me.

Yet we must acknowledge the intellectual courage such reversals require.

If only those clearer thinkers who tell it like it is could be accorded the same consideration as the self-appointed oracles!

We delay or destroy good causes at great expense and travail simply because those who advocate caution are vilified.

We are justified in questioning the remaining pie-in-the-sky proposals still being thumped up by activists with much rhetoric and little logic.

Regular readers of this column will recall some of the other Great Recants of recent years:

  1. On school bussing – by Dr. James Coleman, sociologist for the University of Chicago who launched the integration tool with a federal report in 1964. He now says, “Only under certain specific circumstances does integration improve black classroom performance – when the number of blacks introduced is not sufficiently large to alter the middle-class ethos of the classroom. When these limits are exceeded, the ghetto ethos prevails.”
  2. On deficit spending – by New York Mayor Abraham Beame as America’s largest city neared bankruptcy. He now says, “The very practices I advocated 10 and 20 years ago are responsible for our present difficulty. The borrowing of money to pay debt was a mistake. It is a bitter lesson.”
  3. On federal control – by U.N. Ambassador Daniel P. Moynihan, then assistant secretary of labor under President John F. Kennedy. He now says, “American liberals are guilty of over-protecting the good name of the poor, of over-selling underfinanced programs and of avoiding evidence of poor results. In particular (we liberals) have paid too little heed to the limited capacities of government bureaus to bring about social change.”
  4. On new math – by the California State Board of Education which a decade ago started the education fad. The board now says, “Not everyone needs conceptual theory. The ability to balance a checkbook or add up a grocery list is basic.”
  5. On permissive behavior – by Dr. Benjamin Spock, baby care specialist and Vietnam War objector. He now says, “We have reared a generation of brats. Parents aren’t firm enough with their children for fear of losing their love or incurring their resentment. This is a cruel deprivation that we professionals have imposed on mothers and fathers. Of course, we did it with the best of intentions. We didn’t realize until it was too late how our know-it-all attitude was undermining the self assurance of parents.”

Let us concede that those who espouse hard work, self sufficiency, thrift, simple skills, craftsmanship and all the other old fashioned virtues may know what they are talking about.

As we search the list of beautiful social theories of the last few decades, what has succeeded?

Not the New Deal, nor the Square Deal, nor the New Frontier, nor the Great Society.

Not public housing, rent subsidies, campus rioting, black power, isolationism, foreign aid, sexual freedom, affirmative action, welfare, hiring quotas, free tuition.

Social Security, Medicare and unemployment compensation survive at great expense but stand in jeopardy.

In view of the long and sorry record of error on the part of yesterday’s theorists, we would be better served by a new generation of pragmatists.

Better to count small blessings than recant large mistakes.

Another Easy Way to Carry Out a Free Reverse Cell Phone Number Lookup

I always get questions from people asking me if it is possible to carry out a reverse cell phone number lookup for free and I have never stopped giving them yes as an answer.

A reverse cell phone lookup is a service that allows you carry out a search on a phone number to get more information an about the owner of the mobile number and this can easily be done for free using a free reverse cell phone lookup directory. They are all over the internet and I will be showing you how to find the good ones to use here in this article.

Before even considering carrying out a reverse phone number lookup write out the number you will like to get more information about and simply keep it within your reach. It is funny how many people intend to embark on a search without having this step sorted out and it can be quite frustrating and sometimes make you quit the search. If you have already gotten the mobile number ready then lets proceed to the next step of finding the information.

We will be using the search engines to get our list so simply open your browser and type in “free reverse cell phone lookup directory” in the search box provided and wait for results. From your results you could easily pick out the reverse phone directories that won’t charge you any fee (even though they sometimes have hidden fees) and simply carry out your reverse cell phone search with them. Be very careful so that you don’t hand out someone’s mobile number to spammers disguising as reverse look up directories just to get mobile numbers to direct their attacks to.

While there a number free reverse lookup directories on the internet that will give you basic information about a mobile number, you might want to consider using a paid service as it is usually more accurate, easy to use and gives more detailed information about a mobile number.

I suggest you avoid the risk and simply a small amount to carry out your search as this would have no serious effect on your purse and could save you a whole lot of trouble.

Mine Is Not The Right Way, It Is Simply Another Way

Recently, the California Supreme Court ruled that denying same sex marriage was unconstitutional. As of June 16th , I believe, it will now be legal for same sex couples to marry and you can image that this decision caused a lot of stir. While some said that decision was fair and just, others said that it was a horrible choice made by the courts. As I went to look at the weather on our local newspaper website, the headlines announcing this decision was there, in big bold print, for all to see. In smaller print and a bit off to the side were article headlines about a young girl dying as well as other pretty yucky headlines. (I now know go to weather.com so as to avoid the news even more.) I’ll admit I read the decision story and while it offered the typical news, I was more surprised and completely wrapped up in reading the comments that were left by readers. Because this decision caused such controversy, there were literally hundreds of comments posted by readers concerning this issue. Some were happy about the decision, while others literally felt as though it could end life as we know, it not just here in California, but in the United States. By the way, there were little if any comments left about the other stories.

Part of what makes this country great is the fact that we can say exactly what we feel. So, while the differing opinions didn’t bother me in the least, the way those opinions were being expressed deeply saddened me. Obviously not all of them, but more than enough expressed feelings of hatred from both sides. Some people who said they were Christians were saying how much they hated gays and I even saw one post were the writer (again welding a shield of Christianity) said he was glad because now he would know where gay people lived and could “do something” about them. Some of the people that were in agreement with this decision were very ready to call Christians and other religious people closed minded haters. While some of these people were saying we all needed to be open minded, their next sentence expressed resentment and hatred towards Christians.

While I was saddened by what I was reading, I wasn’t necessarily surprised. There is one thing that people will fight, kill and die for…. the ability to be right. “It’s my way or the highway.” How do they know they are right? Their God told them so. (Remember when I say God I am referring to the Creator. You may choose to refer to him/her in another way, but for this conversation I’m going to refer to the creator as God.) The problem with this thinking is that as I’ve just said, we all have the choice of how we define God. So which one gets to make the decisions? Some say it’s the one’s we learn about in the Holy book. O.K., which book? The Bible, the Koran, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Talmud, etc. Once again, I submit to you that we need to get away from saying what is right and wrong and simply ask what works and what doesn’t work.

I feel comfortable in saying that if we polled many different people, we would all pretty much want the same thing, a safe and peaceful world. If that is in fact the intention of people, then we need to step back and ask if our thoughts, feelings and/or actions are working to achieve that goal. When we are spending so much time and energy trying to prove that others are wrong and doing it through hate, it just doesn’t work. You can’t force change. You can’t scare people into change. You can’t do peace, you have to be peaceful. You can do love, you have to be loving. It’s time we all step back and look at each other as we were meant to, which is simply as an extension of our self. Most of all, it’s time we enter this one little sentence into our daily lives. Mine is not the right way, it is simply another way.

Another New Diet Pill! Is This the Answer to the Obesity Epidemic Plaguing Our Families?

You may have heard about the newest controversial pill to fight obesity on the news recently. Contrave can help stop cravings and has already been used for treating alcohol and opiate addiction. I don’t think a pill is the answer we need to stop the obesity epidemic plaguing our families or sets a good example for children.

A physician on one of the early morning shows said that people can’t lose weight through diet and exercise alone. We need to find a step between diet/exercise and surgery. I could have a field day discussing weight loss surgery, especially weight loss surgery on children and teens, but I will save that for another post.

The truth is the public has been lied to for so long by shysters’ and charlatans’ wanting to make a quick buck off peoples pain and depression about being overweight, that includes the 56 billion dollar diet industry, including many well known companies the public trusts. A sad fact, only 3% of people who go on one of these diet programs keeps the weight off. The physician was correct on one point. The word “diet” no longer co notates a way of eating, but conjures thoughts of doing without, being hungry, eating foods that you don’t like. These so called diets have only added to the obesity epidemic. This is evident by the following statistics. The Surgeon General has now listed the childhood obesity crisis as a National epidemic. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2007, 16% of children (over 9 million) 6-19 years old were obese or overweight, a number that has tripled since 1980. Another 15% were at risk for becoming overweight. 67% of adults (200 Million) were overweight or obese. If you are among the 200 million and are dieting, your child is watching you and has a 70% chance to become an obese adult by mimicking this unhealthy behavior. I am saddened to report my friends and colleagues children could very well die before their parents, due to this epidemic. This is the first generation this will become a reality, not a legacy I want to leave behind.

One of the reasons people cannot keep the weight off is because they turn to a diet to lose it fast. Before studying nutrition and exercise I dieted and watched family members diet, I know the feeling, you are depressed, unhappy with yourself and you want the weight off right now! Diet brain is not looking for long term health or weight management, diet brain wants immediate results. This results in multiple diets throughout ones life, an unhealthy relationship with food and a slow down in metabolism. As for exercise, doctors tell you to walk, while walking is important for cardiovascular health, the best way to speed up your metabolism is by increasing lean body mass, muscle. Diets that cause more than 1 ½ pounds of weight loss per week have a nasty side affect. Muscle loss. This is one of the reasons; you gain the weight back and typically a few extra pounds.

Parents, I know you love your child and want the best for them. That is why I want to get the truth out to parents. We can stop the obesity epidemic one family at a time. It will take educating people and urging an end to dieting. May the next generation never go on a diet in their lives, how great would that be!

Holly Mann – Is She Legit, Or Another Get Rich Quick Scam?

Holly Mann is a 25 year old entrepreneur who has become successful making money online. She went from nothing to making $12,000 / month online in 4 months. She served in the U.S army and was a photographer, website designer and journalist. After she was discharged from the army, she was living off of a disability pension and moved to Thailand with her new baby, because it was much cheaper to live. She began internet marketing, and making a very nice income online in a very short time, and she has written an ebook called Honest Riches, which explains in detail how she makes her money.

I first came across Honest Riches while searching the internet for the rich jerk. I was searching on forums and there were a lot of people chatting away about this girl named Holly Mann, and how she has written an ebook originally called “thank you rich jerk”, which she later revised and named “Honest Riches”. I was skeptical at first, because I had recently been scammed, and I was very relieved when I read through honest riches and noticed that it was going to be very easy for me to implement the strategies.

The positives about honest riches is that it contains step-by-step detailed instructions that are very easy to follow along with. Many of the strategies revealed in the ebook can be done without investing any money. There are many free money making methods that are taught, which are very suitable for newbies.

On the other hand, the negatives are that advanced marketers may find no useful information contained in Honest Riches. Holly Mann’s ebook is only really suited for newbies at making money online. Advanced internet marketers should look somewhere else if they want new techniques for making money online.

If you want to learn how Holly Mann makes $12,000 per month online, you have to check out Honest Riches.

Beyond Organic – Another MLM Gimmick or The Real Deal?

What Is Beyond Organic & What Do They Sell?

Throughout my extensive research I’ve discovered that Beyond Organic, founded by Jordan Rubin, is a food and beverage company with a product line that consist of organic meats, dairy products, chocolate, bottled water and a list of other products. Their mission is to transform the health of this nation and world one life at a time. Beyond Organic is a vertically integrated company, farming 9,000 acres with thousands of cattle, and they also produce millions of gallons of water per day from they’re pristine springs.

Instead of using a traditional retail strategy to distribute the Beyond Organic products, they have chosen a network marketing business model, which they call “mission marketing,” to reach as many people as possible with their unique, nutrient rich foods and beverages.

How Do You Make Money With Beyond Organic?

Jordan Rubin and the corporate team at Beyond Organic are true advocates of multiple streams of income. They have a very detailed compensation plan that I downloaded from their company’s website but for the sake of time here’s a the Reader’s Digest version of their company’s pay plan.

1. Retail Commission: This is where you can earn 20% commission on all retail orders within your organization.

2. Business Builder Bonus: This is where you…..

– Earn a $100 Business Builder Bonus on all E1’s in your organization who purchase the Business Builder Kit

5. Level 1 Bonus: This is where you’re able to earn a 3% Level 1 Bonus on the points of your entire E1 level, plus 3% on the points of individuals you have personally sponsored.

There are a few other ways for you to get paid with Beyond Organic, but I’m sure you get the picture, right?

Should You Join Beyond Organic?

I have to admit that, Beyond Organic does look like a good company. They have a great leadership team, multiple ways to get paid and they have a very interesting product line. Unfortunately, those things will have little to do with you being successful with this company. Why, you ask? Because your success will ultimately be determined by your ability to consistently sponsor new distributors into your Beyond Organic business and also train those distributors to do the same.

My personal advice is to incorporate attraction marketing into your business so you can brand yourself and generate leads on and offline. If you integrate cutting edge, 21st century online marketing strategies with strategic offline techniques, you will be well be on your way to building a insanely profitable, Beyond Organic business.

Forget Another Love Calculator – Find Out What Women Really Want

Looking for another love calculator to tell you which woman is right for you? You may want a computerized test to help you find the woman of your dreams. Trouble is, those tests don’t tell you what you need to know – they tell you what you want to know. Instead, what you need is some sound advice on how to calculate your way into your next successful relationship.

Truth is, if you want to line yourself up with the right woman for the long term, you need to get in touch with what women are really looking for. With a little help from evolutionary biology, you can gain key insights into what she really wants.

So, here are 5 tips about what women really want:

1. Stop listening to what women say they want:

The first piece of advice I have is to stop paying attention to what women say they want. Instead, put on your common sense cap and start paying attention to what they show that they really want (and need).

For example, most women will tell you that they want a man who is funny, nice and attractive. While these are in most cases not lies, these types of statements do not depict what is really going on inside the minds of most women. To understand the reason for this, we need to peer into the subconscious of women.

2. Women are motivated by their biology:

After all, from a biological perspective, women and men of course hook up sexually in order to create another generation of the species. While many women are actively trying to avoid getting pregnant when looking for a new relationship, at some level, a part of their brains is looking at a man through the filter of whether he would make a good father.

3. Women want a man to be able to provide for her and her children:

Of course, most woman want to completely avoid dating a complete jerk or someone who is exceedingly unattractive. But, the bottom line for a woman is that she wants to choose a man whom she feels can provide the things that her future children will need (even if she thinks she doesn’t want children). The take-away here is that woman are attracted to men who appear to be confident enough to successfully make their way in the world. Remember, a woman only has a limited number of opportunities to get pregnant throughout her life (maybe 300 or 400, if she is lucky). So, she is looking for a man who can provide for the long run.

4. Women are looking for a man who is generous:

The ability to make money alone is not enough, however. In order to stay interested, a woman also wants to know that the man she is with is generous with what he has. That is why women are so impressed with gifts like jewelry. This may also be why something like an engagement ring is such a big deal. When you ask for a woman’s hand in marriage, you give her not only a ring, but also a valuable symbol of your commitment to support, care for and protect her.

5. Strength is a turn-on:

In terms of human evolution, the days of using violence, brute force and muscle to get what one wants are over for most modern humans. And yet, woman are still hardwired to remain attractive to men who are well-built and powerful. That is why, even when a relatively nerdy man might make more money than another man who is a stud, the stud may win out in some cases just because of the feeling of security and strength he gives to the women around him.

You can leverage these finer points about how our own biological evolution plays into how we men attract women to become better equipped to get the woman you want. Instead of looking for another love calculator, find out how to leverage your own evolutionary gifts (whatever they may be) to get the woman of your dreams.

How to Get Your Ex Husband Back – Before He Finds Another Woman!

Learning how to get your ex husband back isn’t as hard as you think – in fact, you are about to learn how to get your ex to literally beg YOU to take HIM back!

First, you have to act like you are indifferent to the break up.  He expects you to be falling apart, right?   Well… what do you think he will do when you’re NOT?  He’s going to wonder ‘WHY’!  This is exactly what YOU want – you want him to think about you – don’t give him time to think about finding someone else!

Curiosity is a very strong emotion – human nature will draw him back to you.

Once you have sparked his curiosity, you have to ignite it – this is going to be hard to do, but it is the next step you need to take to get your ex husband back.

You cannot attempt to contact him!  No letters.  No phone calls.  No texting.  No NOTHING!  Again, he is expecting you to do these things – when you don’t do them, he will wonder why!

What you are doing now is working to keep him thinking about you.  As long as you can make him think about you, he won’t have time to think of anyone else.

When you act indifferent, it will spark his defense system – he will start to think ‘Why isn’t she upset?  How is she over me already?’  And, by not contacting him, you are again going against nature – he will wonder why you don’t try to talk to him, and it will continue to drive him nuts until he finds out why.

The Violin: Is Playing the Violin Therapeutic or Is That Another Urban Myth?

Playing any musical instrument is a wonderful gift that can give the player hour upon hour of pleasure both when practicing or performing with friends or in front of an audience; but is this all it is, or is there some kind of hidden therapeutic healing process that will help the musician? In this article I want to examine in an honest unbiased way if there is any sense to the theory that the Violin is anything other than just a musical instrument that can be enjoyed but nothing more.

First let us examine the negative aspects of playing the violin. If we are seriously saying that just playing can give you some relief from a physical problematic symptom then this is a definite no. In fact due the unusualness of the way we hold the instrument it is the opposite. Many violinists suffer back problems, shoulder problems and general aches and pains because of their craft. We are all taught the classical way to hold the instrument but this is seriously not a natural way to play and has to be induced by hours of practice.

If we switch to mental healing powers we may be on to something. One of the biggest causes of illness in our society is stress. Stress may not cause an actual physical illness but it will certainly make it worse. The violin has an effect of somehow washing away this stress and can take the player to another place. I have experienced this many times over the years and my violin has become the key that opens a door and takes me out of daily stressful situations, and after an hour or so of playing I feel like my stress levels are nonexistent. It is extremely difficult to explain this to a non-musician, but I suppose that levels of concentration in playing the violin don’t leave room for other things, and therefore it has a therapeutic effect on the player.

To a non-violinist you need to imagine playing the violin as a musical massage for the brain, just like going to a health farm will cleanse your body of toxins, so the violin will cleanse your brain of everyday problems. Unfortunately they soon come back when you stop playing, but for a time your stress-levels will fall, and that can’t be a bad thing.

So in conclusion, the violin does have therapeutic powers for the relief of stress and this is not an Urban Myth. I would argue that this is also the case for all other instruments, and a good argument to take your children to some form of musical lessons, they will thank you for it when they become adults.
