One is the loneliest number. Although, these famous lyrics, referred to personal relationships, and, potential ramifications, of these, including, loneliness, after, over four decades, of personal involvement, in, nearly, everything, related to leading, from identifying and qualifying, to training, developing, and consulting to, over a thousand, actual, and/ or, potential leaders, and serving, personally, as a leader, on several occasions, I believe, if one seeks to lead, he should be ready, for all the duties, and responsibilities, related to doing so, as well as, on many occasions, feeling, ALONE, because, a major part of his responsibility, is making the challenging decisions, in a well – considered way, rather, than, accepting, a populist approach, in order to try to be, better – liked! With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and, why it matters.
1. Attitude; attention; articulate: Great leaders must proceed, with a true, positive, can – do, attitude, but, in a realistic way, instead of wearing, rose – colored, glasses! When, this is combined, with a willingness, and commitment, to pay keen attention, to everything, in an open – minded, manner, and, he consistently, articulates a compelling, inspiring, motivating, relevant, responsible, responsible message, to those, he serves and represents, he begins to become a real leader!
2. Listen; learning; leading: Although, leaders must be ready, to accept challenges, and make challenging decisions, he must be willing, to effectively, listen, and, truly, learn, in a beneficial way, and, actually, leading, by example, and, deed!
3. Options; opportunities; organize, optimize: It’s important to consider, all, relevant options, and alternatives, and take advantage to all opportunities, which may present, themselves! When, he begins, with those intentions, and is capable of organizing his organization, effectively, his service and representation, becomes optimized!
4. Needs; nerves: Everything, a leader does, as well as, considers, doing, should be focused – on, and based on the needs, priorities, goals, mission, and perceptions of the specific group, and stakeholders! One of the challenges, many face, in attempting, to become a leader, is having the nerves, to act, when others, make excuses, blame, and complain!
5. Empathy; emphasis; efforts; excellence; enrich; endurance: It takes, proceeding, with, genuine empathy, to have the ability, to make the best decisions! When, one’s emphasis, is aligned, with his efforts, and he, consistently, demands the utmost degree of personal excellence, he may be capable of enriching his organization, and stakeholders, and, he has the true endurance, to stick – with – it, to – fruition, everyone benefits!
It’s normal for a true leader, to, at times, feel ALONE! Are you, ready, willing, and able to accept the duties, and responsibilities, of leading?
