The Dangerous World of Regency England

Although on occasion the Bow Street Runners, the then law enforcers of London, traveled into the country where one of their criminal cases might lead them, the country areas were policed by magistrates. These in turn appointed constables, who jailed and bound criminals over to said magistrates. Justices of the Peace dealt with minor offences at the Petty Sessions. More severe cases were held four times a year at the Quarter Sessions. The most severe cases were referred by the Quarter Sessions to the sitting judges to hear at the Assizes.

The Magistrates were appointed by the Crown and drawn from the landowning aristocracy, the country gentry, and the Anglican clergy, who were often related to noble houses.

According to Roger Swift, who wrote about the Magistracy in Nineteenth century England, (see below for full title of Abstract), the country magistrates wielded considerable power. Many towns were as yet incorporated, so these and the country were the province of the magistrate. “The magistracy exercised a wide range of administrative responsibilities which included the licensing of alehouses, the inspection of prisons and lunatic asylums, the superintendence of roads, public buildings and charitable institutions, and the application of laws against vagrancy…(and they) adjudicated in the settlement of disputes….” (p.75)

These men presumably saw to justice, but the poor suffered greatly and biased magistrates had children transported to Australia for stealing bread for their sick mothers. Poaching, carried on to feed starving families whose land had been enclosed by their wealthy neighbors, was severely punished. Transportation and hanging were common. Although many landowners of the nobility employed the poor on their estates, much of the injustices continued until reforms came in during the Victorian period.

Returning soldiers from the Peninsular wars, who lacked family, and could afford fares to the country, unable to find employment, were caught up in poaching. Sabbath breaking was frowned upon, so that drinkers and gamblers caught thus were placed in stocks on the public ‘green’ for one and all to see. Abuses occurred in the northern areas of England, for example mining, where workers were paid by food or goods rather than money well into the Victorian period.

Compared to London, the dangers in the country were less. Despite this, some biased magistrates still treated vagrancy with transportation. Usually this punishment was for seven years, but in the case of children, mothers’ hearts were torn apart–for if their children survived the journey by ship, they were never seen again. It was said that the work amongst the gangs of Botany Bay was hard. Only the strong survived, and few made it back to England.

The Regency world of England for the poor, disadvantaged, and trespassers, was truly a dangerous place. My heros and heroines had much to contend with in their fight against oppression.

Ideas Rule the World

A very witty phrase, if you ask me. Going by the definition by Wikipedia; “an idea is a concept or abstraction formed and existing in the mind. Human capability to contemplate ideas is associated with the ability of reasoning, self-reflection, and the ability to acquire and apply intellect. Further, ideas give rise to actual concepts, or mind generalizations, which are the basis for any kind of knowledge whether science or philosophy.”

So why do we say they rule the world? “Everything you see and touch was once an invisible idea until someone chose to bring into being.”- Richard Bach. Like a dream, an idea sprouts up in the mind, flies around in our brains till its used or naturally fades out. The uniqueness and power that set apart any successful businesses or individual, starts with the kind of ideas they come up with(usually influenced by their state of mind, environ and situations).

It is not enough to have an idea, but it is a good start. To create a business, you need to come up with an idea. Then once you’re in business, you need more ideas for design, engineering, capacity building, marketing, creative problem solving, customer retention, etc. Day in day out, you would need to think and generate new creative ideas to sustain the existing ideas. The accelerated pace of change and current ease of new entrants to new markets due to technological advances leaves no time to be sloppy in encouraging and nurturing ideas. The success or failure of a business could be could depend on just one idea or the timing.

Most companies are not short on new ideas, but they are short on ways to assess, prioritize, and execute those new ideas. For example, IBM existed when Dell took advantage of the internet and started online computer sales. Dell Computers had “an idea” IBM lacked and developing that single idea at that time, made Dell MONEY and a strong brand name. Ideas don’t just bring you out of your shell, they possess the power to creatively stand you out.

Find great ideas? Basically, ideas are born by combining existing ideas to form an invention(e.g. “car” and “kitchen,” = “mobile restaurant,”). Firms must enthusiastically welcome new ideas and suggestions. If an idea is given proper attention, it may become the hero in town, the next great marketing campaign, or even the perfect incubator for your next innovative product or service.

There are several instances in history where great ideas were born and have made success:

Finding solutions to a need gave birth to Crayola brand crayons which started as a need for a child friendly school instrument. To improve its business Garment Care (another laundry shop or better still a “glorified wash-man”), accepted Alder ‘s concept of “branding” and the success, we can tell. The famous Mark and Spencer wanted to be different from other retail stores in UK; today, miles away the Igbo*-boy in Tejuosho* market, sells with lines like “this one is original stuff, like Mark and Spencer”. Post It Notes was created from the “failures” in a series of experiments in trying to create a heavy adhesive. Adapting to change has helped Madonna (the world known singer and business woman) keep a firm grip on her legion of fans. Despite all the critics surrounding her career, by incorporating the latest dance ,music and trends into her own style, she has managed to retain her stage space in the entertainment industry, for decades. I remember banking in Nigeria was also very boring before Bond Bank(then)* and GTBank* changed the game thanks to Alder consulting. The lists goes on and on.

To build a strong brand out of businesses or individual you need to have a unique story to tell. The Einsteins, Gates, Dangotes*, Bruces*, Modelas*, had all made it because, Ideas Rules The World!

Top 10 Most Expensive Christmas Trees In The World Ever

The Christmas tree originated in 7th century Germany. A monk named St. Boniface used the triangular shape of the Fir tree to illustrate the Holy Trinity in his teachings. Since then, and more prominently in 16th century Germany, families began to bring Spruce, Pine, and Fir trees into their homes and decorated them with nuts, candles, fruit, and paper flowers.

Over the years Christmas tree ideas have not only gained great popularity, but also evolved into many different variations with only one thing in common, the original triangle shape.

Now Christmas trees can be seen everywhere during the holiday season. So much, so that having the most expensive tree has become a sort of competition for some of the world’s wealthiest people. Decorated trees are used to show off just how incredibly wealthy their owners are. So, just how valuable can a tree get?

10. Vermont pre lit artificial trees:

Value –> $850 USD

Special features of this lighted Christmas tree include Hinged-branch construction and special memory wire. The special features of the Vermont Fir tree make it easier to set-up than earlier slim artificial Christmas Trees. This tree is 8.5 feet of multicolored holiday celebration with the latest in artificial tree technology. I wonder what they’ll come up with next.

9. Pre-Lit Frasier Fir Artificial Christmas Tree:

Value –> $1,000 USD

This pre lit artificial tree is adorned with 1350 colorful, mini lights. This artificial Fir tree boasts an ability for individual lights to be removed from their sockets without effecting any of the other tree lights. At 10 feet tall, it towers over most other artificial trees on sale.

8. Sofitel London St. James – Black Tree Decorated With Cognac:

Value –> $55,000 USD

Just another run-of-the-mill, metal frame slim tree until you look a little closer. You will notice 200 miniature sized handmade 24-carat gold bottles containing Louis XIII, Grand-Champagne Cognac. Why they would openly leave booze in a hotel lobby is anybody’s guess. The tree is 16.5 feet tall so if you were going to drink the champagne cognac, for safety reasons I would suggest starting from the top and working your way down.

7. Steve Quick Jewelers – Gold Tabletop Trees:

Value –> $500,000 USD

As a fund-raising project to benefit the American Cancer Society, this decorated tree was created by Steve Quick. The Chicago Jeweler casts small trees with 18K of solid gold. A couple features were added to increase the value of a larger tabletop tree, round diamond ornaments and a detachable platinum star tree topper. The star is detachable so it can be worn as a pendant. Just when you thought a 5 pound chunk of solid gold couldn’t look any better, they topped it with 4.52 carats of bling, and that’s just the one diamond in the platinum star!

6. Soo Kee Jewelery Shop – Diamond Tree:

Value –> $1 Million USD

Displayed at a shopping mall in Singapore called Bugis Junction, a 20 foot – 7,000 pound silver Christmas tree made everybody feel very poor as they looked for slightly more affordable gifts for their loved ones. A shiny-silvery glow of 21,798 diamonds and more than 3,000 crystals adorned this fabulous holiday spectacle. Would they really notice if one or two went missing?

5. Washington D.C. – Capitol Christmas Tree:

Value –> $1 Million + USD

The tradition of standing a tall Fir tree on the West front of The Capitol in Washington, D.C. began in 1964. Every year the outdoor tree is cut, transported, and replanted. Rumors speculate that the cost of such an operation is well over $1 Million thus making this outdoor Christmas decor one of the most expensive in the world.

4. Ginza Tanaka Jewelery Shop – Tabletop Tree:

Value –> $1.6 Million USD

Ginza Tanaka Jewelery in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, Japan displayed this beautiful slim tree that was decorated with over 240 priceless gems. 3. Takashimaya Department Store – Preserved Rose Mini Christmas Tree:

Value –> $1.8 Million USD

Definite proof that size does not matter. Well, when you’re talking about fake Christmas trees for sale that is. The 16 inch table top Christmas trees is made from preserved flowers and decorated with 400 diamonds. I wonder if the department store ever did collect on the $1.8 million price tag however, they did throw the teddy bear in to sweeten the deal.

2. Hong Kong Swarovski Crystal – LED Prelit Christmas Tree:

Value –>???

Standing a staggering 90 feet tall, the 40,000 Swarovski crystals are piled high into one spectacular Christmas tribute as part of the annual Hong Kong “Winterfest”. While this outdoor LED Christmas tree is fairly impressive during the day just wait till the sun goes down. Unfortunately, the cost of such a tree is unknown to us at this time, so the question “where does it place on this list?” can be answered with another question “Does your Christmas tree flash it’s lights to the beat and shoot fireworks out the top?” I didn’t think so.

1. The Emirates Palace Hotel – Decorated Christmas Tree:

Value –> $11.4 Million USD

The seven star hotel in Dhabi displayed a 40 foot Christmas Pine covered with $11 million worth of diamonds, pearls, emeralds, and the like. This tree was on loan from a gallery in Abu Dhabi

If you were thinking about staying at The Emirates Palace Hotel you can expect to pay around $1 million every week. Expensive? Maybe, but your room comes with a Butler, a Maybach luxury car & driver, and a privet jet just in case you need to run to the supermarket in Edmonton, Canada to pick up a few things before dinner.

Let Us Change the World Through the Change of Ourselves

Let us change the world through the change of ourselves Sufi Bayazid tells about himself: When I was young, I was revolutionist and my prayer was like this: “O Lord, give me a power to change the world”. As I have become adult and I enlightened myself that a half of my life was past and that I was not able to change even one human being during this time, I changed my prayer and start to say: “O Lord, let me transform people which contact me. Even only my family and my friends. It will be enough for me to be glad.” Now, when I am already old and my days are counted, I have started to understand how I was stupid and now my prayer is: “O, Lord let me be able to change myself” If I could pray this way since the beginning I did not waste my life. I adore observing human creativity.

This is fantastic how immensity of possibilities is bringing each of a human being. Architectonic miracles, the power of the word, miracle of music phrase… And all of it in its primordial being without any material form. Why most of us try to change the order of the world (starting from the changing the family and finishing on politicians) instead searching the way to the huge information included in the Universal Energetic Field, this information on which base we can build our own unique and unrepeatable life experience? Next workshops taking place in Dom Kultury Praga. Thaddeus is above 70 years old man. Witty although sarcastic way of expressing his perceptions is attracting the attention of the participants. With the bitter tongue he criticises the government for its uncompromising way of acting and manipulating of the human resources. His attack is directed outside. The consequence: He consolidates the conviction about own impotence in this case, He finds the confirmation for his black, pessimistic visions in the dialogue with the participants, which agree with his opinion, He does not see the possibility of changing this situation through the individual acting.

He deprives himself the possibility of creating, satisfying his expectations, conditions of life. The price which Thaddeus pays for the way of thinking due to the out of date model of the reality is very high: Bad condition of his health and no perspectives for the satisfying life In “New vision of healing II” I have described the model of reality to which is inclined contemporary knowledge. The base reality in this model is Universal Energetic Field. Dr Pribram is describing it as the “energetic record” receiving by our senses, which on its base are creating the illusion of surrounding immaterial reality. In this model everything is mutually connected, what means that every individual has the influence on totality. Dr Pribram affirm that the brain transforms the information in the conventional way, what means that each of human being experience created by himself reality, accordingly to his expectations basing on the tradition and his convictions. If we accept the idea, that we by ourselves create our experience of the reality, we will profit the possibility of determining what way we have created our present reality, and we will gain the chance to change it into more desirable. What can change the knowledge about a new model of reality in the life of the old man? I suspect that much, but under the condition, that he will accept the possibilities of creating the reality supported by the new data base and make a lot of actions to get rid of the “luggage” of experiences which he had collected during whole his life and which had consolidated the out of date system of convictions.

I know from my observations, that we can make our task easier if we are working to change ourselves in a group of people supporting each other, going the common path of change. Very important element of this work is practical utilization of our knowledge, the knowledge which has the holistic approach to the human being. Cordial atmosphere of meetings, common play and joy meaningly influence on the calm of our emotions, and the same open the way to knowledge from the intuitive level of existence. Creation and as a consequence change of the life landscape, this is a stage informing about the transformation of our convictions and the same about the way of experiencing the life. Independently from the methods discovering for us the new possibilities which can open the door to new experiences, the most powerful source of the transformation for a human being is love. I have observed many girls in love, who were healed by this feeling from many indispositions like with the touch of magician’s wand.

Unfortunately most of them could not use this powerful source of might for creating a new image and the same more splendid life experience. The state of falling in love was passing and the girls came back to the old life programs keeping hardly in the subconsciousness. Confucius taught that a human being desires experience the happy life should frequently change himself. What about was thinking this great thinker? Is it an emotional shakiness or cleverness of ego creation? I think that both. Confucius perfectly knew that the abundance of life is linked with the skills of creating own life supporting on the variable picture of self on the base of feeling from the intuitive field of existence. The symbol of going this path of own develops is the step pyramid known not only in the culture of Indian tribe Maya or Aztecs.

In experiencing of abundance of self we pay still less attention for the material base (this is our own choice), even we are all the time deeply rooted in it. The last step is the symbol of the recognition of our real identity after the ending of whole cycle of internal transformations. I think, that independently on which step of the pyramid we create our experience, important is the answer on the question if we are ready for the conscious change. If we are on the path unconsciously, we frequently come back to the previous class to complete the knowledge. Do you really desire to plunge in the deep of the Sky-blue Lake? It will bring a change. Are you ready to the new way? Listen to yourself in the silence and take steps with the accordance with your own feelings.

I wish you joy and terrestrial ingenuity.

Best regards

Travel the World’s Best Destinations

The top places for travel around the world used to be fairly standard. In fact, most people couldn’t afford to travel much, if at all. If traveling was possible, it was usually done in a car or by train or bus. Now that air travel is so much less expensive, several destinations that one may not even think of are becoming more and more popular for travelers and vacationers all over the world. The following countries are some of the top places for travel in the past year, and some might surprise you!

South Africa

The beauty of South Africa is it’s authenticity. Not only do you have several modern cities to tour and fine cuisine to taste, but you also have the beauty of the natural wildlife, including animals you won’t see any other place in the world. There is a tremendous warmth from the local people and the culture is fascinating.

Argentina

Travelers love Argentina for all sorts of reasons. The sub-tropical climate makes it a wonderful, beautiful place to get away, and the waterfalls are copious and breath taking. On the other hand, Argentina has beautiful snow packed mountains if you like to ski. Buenos Aires is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with amazing night life and a strong beating heart.

Philippines

Visiting the Philippines is a favorite experience by many due to the friendliness of the local people and the beauty of the ocean. The local people are known to invite tourists into their homes and voluntarily give information about the culture. The beach is a very popular destination for surfers and those who love water sports.

Czech Republic

Known for it’s stunning architecture and delicious foods, the Czech Republic is located in the heart of Europe. Several people visit the country by itself, but it’s a favorite for those who want to visit several other European destinations. The country has over 2000 Chateaus, more than any other country in the world per square kilometre!

Tahiti

This may sound like a more common favorite destination, but many say that Tahiti is the most beautiful country in the world. The colors, the beaches, the serenity give it top rating and it’s one of the top ‘wished for’ places to visit in a lifetime.

Zambia

If you’re visiting South Africa, you should definitely take the time to visit Zambia, a beautiful neighbor which is home to one of the seven wonders of the world, Victoria Falls. Filled with peaceful, friendly people, Zambia is a cultural experience many enjoy.

India

Vibrant and culturally overwhelming, India is one of the best places to go to experience fine culture, wonderful cuisine, and absolute beauty. The people of India are extremely friendly and inviting, and their architecture is amazing. Of course, one of the most amazing things to see is a beautiful live tiger in the wild. A proud, vivacious country, India is a traveler’s gem.

Indonesia

Indonesia is a popular place for tourist who visit New Zealand and Australia. It’s comprised of over 60,000 beautiful islands to surf, swim and relax.

Malta

Not many places are more beautiful than a country in the middle of the Mediterranean. With architecture older than the Egyptian pyramids, Malta is a beautiful destination which traveler’s never forget.

Croatia

People don’t think of Croatia as a tourist destination but it’s becoming more and more popular. A small country with huge diversity, Croatia is like Europe and the Mediterranean combined. Great food, great wine, great people- it’s truly a beautiful place to visit.

Although some of the travel destinations above might not seem like typical places to visit for a vacation, each of them are precious places that travelers from all over the world cherish and love. Each should be enjoyed and experienced by anyone who wants to see the world.

Creating a World of Love

You just never know when or how a message from the higher realms will appear in your life. And nor do you know how that message will transform through time. Here’s an example of one of those messages that I once received.

A few days after the 9/11 attacks I was taking a shower when suddenly I heard a very loud man’s voice say, “Do guided meditations for world peace on PTTV.” I spun around, expecting to see an intruder in the bathroom, but there was no one. I shook my head in amazement of this strange occurrence, and then continued my shower.

After a few moments of quiet once again the voice said, “Do guided meditations for world peace on PTTV.” This time the voice was louder and more determined.

“I don’t do guided meditations,” I announced to the disembodied voice. “I don’t even meditate. You’ve got the wrong person, so go find someone else to do the meditations.”

This was met by silence… for a while. Then once again, even more loudly, the voice commanded, “Do guided meditations for world peace on PTTV.”

“I don’t do meditations, guided or otherwise, and I don’t have a clue as to what or where PTTV is. So go find the right person because it isn’t me,” I said louder and stronger this time.

Silence.

“Well. That’s the end of that nonsense,” I thought to myself.” Little did I how wrong I was.

The next day I had an appointment with a new coaching client at my home office. During the get-to-know-you part of the session she told me that she lived at the end of the Toandos Peninsula, or as us locals know it, the end of the world.

“What do you do for work all the way down there?” I asked her.

“Oh, a little of this and a little of that. In fact, right after our session I’ll be going into town where I work at PTTV… you know, the local TV station… running one of the cameras.”

As soon as I could pick my face up off the floor, I told her about the visitation and message I’d received the day before regarding meditations for world peace.

“Great!” she responded. “I’ll talk to the station manager when I get there and tell him about it. I think he’ll want to do it.”

After she left, I figured I wouldn’t hear from her again. After all, it was quite a weird and crazy message I’d received. Again, I was so wrong! Within an hour after she left my house, she called to tell me that the station manager was really excited about the meditation idea and he wanted to meet with me right away to discuss the details.

So the next day I drove into Port Townsend, (the PT part of PTTV) and met with him. We discussed what I needed to do and by when. My biggest challenge, I thought, was going to be finding people to do the meditations, since I didn’t have a clue about meditating. As it turned out, some of the local metaphysical people I knew were all too happy to share their guided meditations.

The first person I called was a woman who holds weekly meditations at her home. She was hesitant at first, however the idea of helping to promote world peace finally won her over and we scheduled the first show.

At the appointed time we all arrived at the studio for the first Guided Meditation for World Peace on PTTV. After the equipment was all adjusted she began. The manager had called me into the control room so I could view the show without disturbing my friend as she gave the meditation instructions.

After a few minutes of listening to the guided meditation, I realized I had tears streaming down my face. The manager turned and looked at me, and he had tears running down his face. We looked toward the stage just as the camera woman turned to look at us, and she too had tears streaming down her cheeks. We were all hugely overwhelmed with the incredibly powerful energy that the meditation was creating.

That session was one of six, all of them with a different person leading their version of a meditation for world peace. Each meditation was unique and beautiful, but none compared to the power of that first one. The station recorded all of the sessions and played them over and over every day for years.

Did it stop a war from occurring after the 9/11 attacks? I can’t say for certain, but I do know that it shifted the energy from fear to peacefulness for a good many people. According to the station manager, they received more phone calls praising that guided meditation than they did for any other program.

We are currently in a similar situation of our country being attacked and the people being consumed with fear. The difference is that this time the enemy is a virus which is invisible to the human eye, making it even scarier. And it’s not something that just our country is experiencing. It’s the entire planet.

It’s a proven fact that when the human body is experiencing fear, the immune system is compromised. And it’s also proven that depressed people tend to become sick easier and more often. Because of this, now more than ever we all need to do what we can to fend off the fear created by the viral attacks. It’s become vital that now we need this guided meditation for peace in order to create the much needed inner peace that helps to ward off this fear-based energy.

A few years ago I was inspired to use my friend’s guided meditation for world peace with one small change for my own personal use. The results were so promising that I began using it on others who were experiencing emotional distress. I’ve now been using it for years to calm myself and others and I’m always delighted to see how quick and powerful it is in calming, soothing, and giving peace to the recipient.

The adjustment is simply this: instead of visualizing white light as per her instructions, I changed the light to pink. Why pink? Because, as I was informed by my spirit guides, it’s the color of Divine Love.

Recently I was given this little meme and it seems fitting for this application: Ripples become Tsunamis.

What this means is that the tiniest of ripples can grow into a tidal wave with the right amount of energy applied to it. So it is with the following meditation. Not only can you create an energy of love ripple for yourself by use of this quick and easy visualization, you can grow it to become a tsumani of love energy by sharing it with the world.

There are three ways you can help to create a world of love. One method is to use the visualization daily and often. The other method is to share the visualization instructions with your friends and loved ones. The best way is to utilize both methods.

Guided Meditation for A World of Love: Instructions

Following are the instructions for the visualization/meditation to create a world of love. At each step, notice how you feel emotionally and physically.

1. Close your eyes and take three slow, gentle breaths. Breathe through your nose, bringing the air deeply into your belly, down to the pit of your stomach. Release each breath gently.

2. Visualize the pink energy of love surrounding you. Notice how it encompasses your entire body. Play with the thickness of it, the brightness of its light, the viscosity of it. Notice the comfort, calm, and peace of that energy. Stay in the energy for as long as you like.

3. Now expand the energy outward to include your entire home, inside and out. Stay with the visual of the pink energy of love encompassing your home for as long as you wish.

4. When you’re ready, enlarge the energy of love outward to include your residential area, town, or city. With your inner vision see the love energy covering that area.

5. Next, increase the pink energy of love until it covers the entire country. Hold that vision as long as you like.

6. Finally, grow the love energy until it surrounds and encompasses the entire planet. Notice how the energy is glowing brighter and brighter as it becomes greater. Stay with that vision as long as you wish.

Use this planetary love visualization at least once every day… and remember to share it with others.

Effects of World War II

More than the first one, the Second World War two was truly a worldwide conflict which continued from 1939 to 1945. It was majorly an extension of World War One, involving practically the entire planet. It resulted in the development of 2 opposing military alliances – the Axis and the Allies. It was the biggest or maybe probably the bloodiest war that incurred nearly fifty million to eighty five million deaths.

The Second World War is believed to have started on 1st September 1939 with the intrusion of Poland by Nazi Germany and the subsequent declaration of war to wards Nazi Germany by France and also the United Kingdom. In a number of treaties and campaigns from 1939 to the start of 1941, Germany conquered a lot of continental Europe as well as committing its alliance with Japan and Italy. The Allies Powers have been formed by France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union and, to a lesser level, China. With lots of invasions and also defeats happening in the subsequent years, the battle in Europe lastly ended with the intrusion of Germany by the Western Allies and also the Soviet Union, leading to unconditional surrender by Germany on 8th May 1945. This was followed by detonating the atomic bombs by the United States on the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima on 9th and 6th August respectively, due to Japan’s refusal to surrender. Lastly, with the surrender of Japan, and the total victory of Allies on 15th August 1945, the battle in Asia finished. The atomic bombing altered the way the United States was looked upon, making the United States a World Power.

Good consequences of WW II

The United Nations was created to facilitate global co-operation and avoid future conflicts. the United States, the Soviet Union, China, the United Kingdom and also France had become the permanent members of the International Council. Consequently, peace was evoked by it globally.

Second World War resulted in the conclusion of dictatorship especially in Europe. Segregation that provided many races questionable benefits were ended by it.

The Soviet Union significantly benefited in regards to development in its territory. It seized areas of Poland, Finland, Japan and Germany to its boundaries.

Technology progressed enormously. Radar was created by the English that became the forerunner of television. Generally there was improvement in computers and electronics, that served as a platform for more development. The advancement of atomic bombs allow to the growth of the Nuclear Power Industry.

Innovative technologies to battle diseases have been created during the war, that resulted in further development and inventions and lowered the mortality rates.

New job opportunities emerged tremendously as an outcome of the battle. The companies producing warfare supplies emerged quickly.

Generally there came about a radical development within the economic system. It was as a result of the mass production of war materials.

Damaging consequences of WW II

All of the social and economic laws have been established to increase the military workforce. Many businesses suffered damage in manpower due to their amplified infringement into the military use. The complex children and women that made work during the battle once the shortages had being looked after, had been terminated from employment after the war which raised concerns for the economy.

The U.S. federal deficit enhanced as war use was inflating. It’d increased from nine to 98.5 billion USD during World War II.

Germany was enormously impacted by the second World War as it was annexed by 4 nations, which includes Great Britain, Soviet Union, France and united States.

Despite mushrooming employment opportunities, poverty carried on to grow due to wages that are low. The European economy faced a standstill.

There seemed to be an enormous loss of countless lives, that in a number of ways is able to complement virtually any good impact which has been achieved.

Interior Designer Elsie de Wolf – A Rebel in an Ugly World

Elsie de Wolfe referred to herself as a “rebel in an ugly world.” During Elsie’s heyday from 1926 to her death in 1950, the rest of the world just called her Lady Mendl.

In 1913, Elsie wrote what may have been the one of the first great books on interior design, The House in Good Taste. She became well known in New York, Paris, and London, and was believed by some to be the person who first invented the profession of interior design. Whether or not that’s the case, Elsie de Wolfe could include some very influential people among her clientele, such as Ann Vanderbilt, the Duchess of Windsor, and Adelaide Frick.

Elsie’s decorating style often featured light, fresh colors, and she was responsible for brightening the interiors of some of the most impressive Victorian homes of her era. She was NOT a fan of the dark nature of traditional Victorian décor, and worked diligently to change it as much as possible.

Interestingly, Elsie de Wolfe started out as an actress, making her debut on the stage in 1890 as a member of the Empire Stock Company. She later formed her own stock company, and became interested in interior design while working on the sets for plays. In 1903, she left the theatre for good to pursue her passion for decorating houses.

Her first commission came in 1905, in a building at 120 Madison Avenue in New York City, which became the city’s premiere women’s social club. (In an ironic twist of fate, that building is now home to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.) Elsie’s success on that project led to a very lucrative career, which saw her make a million dollars over a twenty-year period; a considerable sum at that time.

When she married diplomat Sir Charles Mendl in 1926, the New York Times described Lady Mendl as “one of the most widely known women in New York social life.” She was even mentioned in one of the popular songs of the day, Irving Berlin’s “Harlem on My Mind,” in which the legendary songwriter mentions a “high-falutin’ flat that Lady Mendl designed.”

In 1935, Paris experts named Lady Mendl the best-dressed woman in the world, which was high praise, coming from best-known the place in the world for high fashion at the time. In her clothes as well as her interior design, she lived by the motto she had embroidered on taffeta pillows in her parlor: “Never complain, never explain.”

Our Complex World

I guess in memory is where one finds solitude of what used to be. Maybe it is just myself but lately the times of today just may justify my eagerness to live in a time of simpler tones. But, even then the world faced horrific upheavals. I still can’t help but thinking that today I came along too late. The memories of my father evoke a reoccurring afterthought of what life was like before the war.

The sheltered existence of my childhood as strange as it may seem rejuvenates my core beliefs that something is not right about the times of today. The actions and inactions of so many have dispelled any hope of redeeming factors that would make life more bearable and less obnoxious than what we are experiencing today.

The simple pleasantries as I now call them made life far less complicated than all the gizmos that are currently attached to societies today. Call me old fashioned and that’s suits me fine. With the world in a tailspin of many regrettable sins that have only fostered so much hate, bitterness, loathing, and greed have inexplicitly created the tempests that are engulfing the globe.

Somehow after all these years it wasn’t until after my father’s passing that I began to realize just how much influence he had on me. For he too thought his generation came along too late in stopping the great tribulations that engulfed the entire world in 1940’s.

The complexities of our existence now have underscored my ambition to visualize a world free from want, and free from fear. Now, as I reminisce of my younger years it would be so refreshing to once again rekindle the friendships that were forged when simpler times made my life so enjoyable. This was long before the complexities of life turned the world upside down. The tragedies and travesties that are happening now have only exasperated the complexities of our existence.

It would be so reassuring to put in practice many of the simpler things that made life far less complex. In doing so just maybe the world today would not be in such turmoil and millions the world over would be able to be beneficiaries of a less complicated existence. A world more balanced where coexistence is not just possible but assured.

A reality! That depends on just how soon mankind is willing to usher in the necessary reforms, and policy directives that would bring about that balance in our world today. We have to fully realize that the complexities of our existence just maybe are the root causes of so much trouble in our world today.
