Goji Berries – The Tibetan Secret For Supreme Health & Longevity

I have a question for you. Why is it that a vast number of Himalayan people are able to live past the age of 100 without experiencing many major health problems? What separates their culture from ours? What’s the reason for their supreme health and longevity?

In fact, it’s due to a number of factors – but none more important than their diet and especially one particular aspect of their diet – Goji berries!

Goji berries are one of mother natures most fantastic creations. Human health has sky-rocketed because of this little natural wonder. Who would of thought that something so tiny is capable of so many health benefits?

Goji berries are capable of improving vision, significantly boosting sperm production, nourishing the liver and kidneys, lowering high blood pressure, sky-rocketing energy, curing aches and pains in the joints, fixing sexual inadequacies and improving one’s overall complexion and beauty, as well as significantly slowing down the aging process.

According to the ORAC scale which measures antioxidant levels in different foods, Goji berries contain the greatest amount of antioxidants compared with any other fruit or vegetable. It contains 5 times the level of antioxidants of prunes – which is second in the table. The Goji berry is also reported to contain over 2500 mg of vitamin C for every 100 grams – more than any other fruit and vegetable on earth! Further proof that these berries are capable of (almost) magical things!

Goji berries are capable of improving human health significantly. Incorporate them into your diet as much as you can and really feel the benefits of this natural wonder.

Armageddon and the 4th Timeline by Don Mardak – Book Review

A thrilling ride from the first page…

Armageddon and the 4th Timeline by Don Mardak is a thrilling ride from the first page. This science fiction novel combines time travel, spiritual themes, a fascinating mix of characters and modern intrigue to create an ‘un-put-down-able’ novel.

We meet the CIA Director, Scott Cunningham, a former Navy SEAL, and his Assistant Lori Colbert, addressing a meeting after a terrible terrorists attacks. We also meet husband and wife Kathy and Eric who are in Lhasa, Tibet, on a spiritual quest. Through Eric’s time travel, both worlds intersect. Mardak’s premise throughout the novel is that there “is a spiritual universe, and mankind has the ability to rise into a higher level of consciousness where all conflicts can be resolved peacefully without resorting to wars, or threatening a nuclear holocaust.”

Mardak’s Armageddon and the 4th Timeline is a science fiction novel, containing elements of time travel. It is set in ‘the Present’ with a clear aim of trying to reconcile what is happening. There is a definite sense of good and bad in the novel. Mardak’s fascinating use of the scriptural characters of Paul and Silas to both examine Christianity, and to change the future, is an amazing read. How Mardak structures the novel is particularly well done, so that the ending is both satisfying, works in a science fiction way, and races to the finish, all at once.

The novel examines the various tenets of a number of the main religions (Christianity, Tibetan Buddhism, and Judaism) using them as plot devices: e.g. Paul’s Missionary Journey. This exploration of religion is quite a wild ride, but worth it.

The first third of the novel introduces us to the characters: to the CIA, the issues related to Eric and Kathy, and to the Himalayan mystic Shimahn. This first third also introduces broader geopolitical issues, as well as setting up the ‘four dimensional world of space time’. In the second section of the novel the actual time travel begins. We see its effects from Eric’s point of view. He is an interested participant. In this section Mardak makes good use of structure to make his point, but also to move the plot along. The last third of the novel brings everything together: the time changes and the new ideas and perspectives. There is an ending which is in some ways surreal, and which is beautifully realized.

One of the main themes of this book is religion. It’s a fascinating book because I believe many people see Religions as having “Truths” and this novel certainly plays with some of those. Anyone who believes that the Bible is the written word of God will have a difficult time with this novel. That said, it is far from Mr. Mardak’s aim to make anyone annoyed about this. I feel, quite the contrary.

The novel discuses time travel and how it can save the world. What difference would it make to war? Mardak also asks what kind of world are we creating? How do we cause and prevent nuclear holocaust? Armageddon and the 4th Timeline is also about an attitude of helping and working together to create change.

The relationships that are explored in the novel illustrate personal growth and caring. Kathy and Eric, Colbert and Cunningham, Paul and Silas are all studies in how we see, how we relate, and how we can change. The focus in Armageddon and the 4th Timeline is how this happens.

A minor quibble about the characters is the character of Kathy. I didn’t feel that she had very much to say for herself, and was a little too passive for my liking. Eric, however, is well written and his relationship with Kathy is nicely drawn. The CIA group are depicted as a good bunch. They sounded quite different to Eric and Kathy: they were exciting and gun-ho. They were well drawn.

The scenes in the desert were particularly evocative and the relationships depicted there, though brief, remind the reader that some of the central ideas of the novel are relationship and awareness. The different families in the desert remind the reader that families have many different shapes. In terms of diversity and families there are a range of families: Lori Colbert is a divorced mother, Kathy and Eric have been married seven years and there are the families in the Sinai desert. There is also the relationships between Shimahn and Eric and Kathy, and between Paul and Silas. Mardak also emphasizes diversity by depicting various religions and mixing those religions in unique ways.

This novel runs along at a fast, fast pace. At times it fairly gallops. It has fantastic ideas about time and space and makes the reader think.

Armageddon and the 4th Timeline has a thoughtful purpose, but is highly readable and action packed. Mardak’s plot is well structured and he makes good use of characters. From the first “gloomy Thursday in Langley… ” (Ch. 1) I wanted to read on, to find out what was happening, what was going on. The science fiction genre makes a twist with a spectacularly good ending. I am happy to rate this novel as 4.5 out of five stars.

Facts About the SOUL and REINCARNATION

1. There is no positive proof for the existence of souls, immortal karma, reincarnation, or any spiritual after-life. It is interesting to note that in their last years Hindu philosophers like Osho Rajnish and J. Krishnamurti reversed themselves and stated that there was no reincarnation.

2. There are obvious profit and political power motives for those who promote belief in the supernatural. How many gurus have made fortunes off the idea of soul and reincarnation? The idea of soul has historically been as much a matter of politics as it has been an issue of personal religious belief. It is a fact that Hindu Brahmins justified cast system on the basis of bad karma of past life to be born in the lowest untouchable class; and good actions to serve the higher casts is necessary to be born, in the next carnation, in a family of the higher cast. China has banned Buddhist monks in Tibet from reincarnating without government permission in 2007. The real motive is to cut off the influence of the Dalai Lama, Tibet’s exiled spiritual and political leader.

3. It is highly probable that humans have a built-in genetic predisposition to avoid the inevitable fact of our future death in order to reduce fear and stress. It is possible that our brains create myths of God, soul, immortal karma, reincarnation, and afterlife as a buffer against the hurtful knowledge of the inevitable demise of ourselves and everyone we know and love. By inventing myths of afterlife and/or reincarnation the brain can exist comfortably without the highly charged survival instinct electrically connecting to the newfound knowledge of the inevitability of our future death.

4. Life on earth was created through the nonhuman laws of nature. Strands of chemicals (DNA) were created in the process of origin of life, and further in the process some DNA strands became encased in protective shells which increased their survivability dramatically, creating the first unicellular organisms such as first bacteria. From simple unicellular organisms more complexity was added until a myriad of multi-cell creatures were produced. Through this slow process of evolution over billions of years there was never any need for soul, except perhaps help humans deal with their growing consciousness of the inevitable time-death equation. We know that humans evolved from unicellular organisms. Where did soul come into the picture and why?

No one can honestly say that it is impossible that human beings have souls or immortal karma or reincarnation. You cannot prove an absolute negative against such a big and complex issue. One can only say that given the evidence the possibility is unlikely. The burden of proof is on those who believe in the supernatural and there are currently no facts to back up their case.

Ningxia Wolfberry Fact Or Fiction – The Truth About The Ningxia Wolfberry

The Ninxia Wolfberry is much discussed and though much maligned in some quarters it is venerated in others. So what is the truth and does it actually exist?

As a natural skeptic when it comes to “alternative health” products I was intrigued to find out more.

Firstly, I would like to take a look at the confusion between the Chinese Ningxia Wolfberry and the Tibetan Gogi Berry.

Let’s start with an example. How about that well known fruit/vegetable. Lycopersicon esculentum: confused? Well it’s just a tomato! But is it a Cherry, Black, Beefsteak, Striped, Plum? It doesn’t matter, it’s still a tomato of the family Solanaceae. The genus is Lycopersicon and the species esculentum. The other names above are just varieties.

It seems that a lot of the arguments about the Ninxia Wolfberry stem from the confusion between species and variety.

The Gogi berry is found in large areas of China and Tibet. Over the years different varieties have formed as an adaptation to climate and soil conditions. But, they are still the Gogi/Wolfberry: Lycium barbarus or sometimes Lycium barbarum. It is often claimed that there is a specific difference between Lycium barbarus and Lycium chinensis. I think it more likely that there is one species Lycium barbarus and the Ningxia Wolfberry aka Lycium chinensis, is in fact, a variety.

Having said all that, it must be recognised that the previously differences in climate and soil have a tremendous influence on the resulting fruit. Again as a documented example, the soil in the UK has become depleted in Selenium over the years. accordingly the levels found in vegetables of this crucial trace element vary according to where they are grown. So it is with Gogi/Ninxia Wolfberry the best conditions and husbandry bring the greatest benefits.

Chinese people have been consuming Ninxia Wolfberry to prevent macular degeneration and blurry vision for more than one thousand years. Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners have also employed wolfberry in herbal formulas. Modern science has now discovered that wolfberry fruit contained substantial amounts of pro-vitamin A: beta-carotene and cryptoxanthin.

The Ningxia Wolfberry contains 18 out of 20 amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. The 20 standard amino acids also serve as raw materials for the manufacture of many other cellular products, such as enzymes, hormones, and antibodies in the immune system. Several of these amino acids are key intermediates in cellular metabolism.

In a study carried out by Ning Xia Medical University, thirty healthy people between 60 and 80 years of age consumed 50g of wolfberry per day. After 10 days, blood samples were drawn to measure the level of SCE (Sister Chromatid Exchange. This is a frequently used marker for genetic toxicity relating to aging and the cancer process. SCE levels are lower in the young than that in older people) and lymph cell proliferation. It was found that after taking Ningxia Wolfberry, the SCE declined and lymph cell proliferation improved

Ningxia Wolfberry versus Tibetan Goji Berry The Goji Berry and Wolfberry both contain very high levels of Antioxidants, Vitamins and Minerals, but the quantities and taste can vary. Gogi berries and it’s liquid form – gogi juice are freely available. There is some dispute as to whether the altitude of the region of tibet where the gogi berries are said to come from can actually support flora of this nature. It does seem though that the health benefits of the Ninxia Wolfberry, based on it’s known nutritional value, offers the most promise.

They are also a rich source of both selenium and germanium and have therefore have evoked considerable interest from Oncologists leading to use in a number of clinical trials involving cancer patients. When given to patients undergoing chemotherapy, the berries seemed to offer significant protection for the patient’s liver.

To cut through the hype and confusion, the best advice is to start with the finest organic, whole Ningxia Wolfberries grown without chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Good quality soil and cultivation will ensure optimum nutritional value. Only Ningxia wolfberries appear possess a legendary reputation and scientific validation, combined with a delicious taste.

The 5 Tibetan Rites – Are They Really the Secret of Eternal Youth?

The 5 Tibetan Rites are a series of simple exercises that are claimed to make you younger, which is why they are often referred to as the fountain of youth.

They have been used in the Western world since the 1930’s, when they were introduced by a gentleman called Peter Kelder who in turn had learned them from a retired army officer called Colonel Bradford.

The exercises have a lot in common with yoga but put their own unique twist (literally, in the case of one of the exercises) on this.

So long as you are in good health, you should be able to carry out the various exercises. You don’t need any special equipment and they can be carried out more or less anywhere.

As with any new exercise regime, it’s best to start slowly. Indeed, the recommendation is that you begin with a small number of repetitions and gradually build up to the full number over a period of weeks.

It’s important to get in the habit of doing the exercises daily as you’ll get most benefit from them that way. I find that the easiest way is to do them as soon as I wake up, even before cleaning my teeth. It’s a simple habit and works well for me. You may find that another time of day suits you better and that’s fine – the important thing is that you carry them out each and every day as the cumulative effect is very beneficial.

If you are skeptical, you may be wondering whether there is any scientific proof as to whether or not these simple anti-aging exercises will work for you and whether or not they really are the secret to almost eternal youth as they claim to be.

And that’s a difficult question to answer as the kind of scientific studies needed to show that haven’t been done (partly I think because there’s no money involved for the big companies to perform that kind of research).

But there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence that the exercises work for plenty of people and give them a new found energy.

The good news is that the exercises are easy to carry out and don’t involve you in spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on expensive equipment or gym membership.

All you need to do is get hold of the instructions and follow them!

Some people who have followed the easy exercise routine have reported that they have lost weight. Others have found that the pain they were in has reduced. Still others simply report that they have felt younger.

Nowadays, we’re living longer on average and it makes sense to keep your body in good health and at peak performance for as long as possible.

The best way to find out whether the 5 Tibetan Rites will work for you as a rejuvenation idea is to try them for yourself. Target yourself a 30 day period where you commit to following the simple routines each and every day. Then monitor how you feel before deciding whether or not to continue with them. It really is as simple as that!

Orology – Word of the Day

Any idea what orology means? Let me give you a clue; you’d have to go to the South Asian region of the world to study the top ten. Do you need another clue? Before 1852, this one was not known and is #1 in the top ten. You knew without the clues? You are a brainiac! (I know, that’s not a word but I like it.) I had no clue.

Taken directly from Webster: Orology (?), n. [Gr. ‘oros mountain + -logy: cf. F. orologie.] The science or description of mountains.

Orology is the study of mountains and yes, the top ten mountains are in the South Asian region. Mount Everest was not known to the world until 1852. The Great Trigonometric Survey of India determined in 1852 that Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world and it was measured by Radhanath Sikdar, a Bengali mathematician and surveyor. Since then, it has become a dream for the climbers to climb the top of the ‘Roof of the World’. Former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Bajpayee proposed that the name of this mountain should be named after Radhanath Sikder. The climbing attempts of Mount Everest did not start until 1921. During that year, Tibet opened its border.

Mountains have always been feared and respected by human beings. In Greek Mythology, Mount Olympus was the dwelling place of the Gods. Still now, in many religion of the world, mountains are considered as holy places.

Hold your breath, the Top ten Mountains of the World are:

1. Mount Everest is located in Nepal/Tibet and is 29,029 feet high. “As of the end of the 2006 climbing season, there have been 3,050 ascents to the summit, by 2,062 individuals, and 203 people have died on the mountain.” -Wikipedia

2. K-2 is located in Pakistan and is 28,251 feet high. Did you see the film Vertical Limit? I thoroughly enjoyed it. Chris O’Donnell, a mountain climber, scales K-2 in search of his sister.

3. Kangchenjunga is located in Nepal/India. It is a combination of five peaks. Its name literally means “The Five treasures of Snows.” Its highest peak is 28,169 feet.

4. Lhotse is located in Nepal. This mountain is 27,940 feet. It is connected with Everest by south and some people mistakenly identify it as the south peak of Everest.

5. Makalu is located in Nepal/Tibet. It is 27,765 feet and is shaped like a four sided pyramid, making it very difficult to climb. The ascent was conquered by Lionel Terray and Jean Couzy on their second attempt.

6. Cho Oyu is located in Nepal/Tibet. The height of this mountain is 26,906. Its name in Tibetan language means “Turquoise Goddess.”

7. Dhaulagiri means “White Mountain” and is located in Nepal. It is 26,794 feet high and for 30 years was thought to be the highest mountain in the world.

8. Manaslu is located in Nepal. The “Mountain of the Spirit” is 26,758 feet high.

9. Nanga Parbat is located in Pakistan. This mountain is 26,658 feet high. It is also known as Diamir. In Hindi “Nanga Parbat” means “Naked Mountain.”

10. Annapurna is a Sanskrit word which means “Goddess of the Harvests.” It is located in Nepal. It has a series of six peaks with the highest peak being 26,545 feet.

If you already knew what orology meant, perhaps you gained more information about the description of the Top ten Mountains of the World that you didn’t know. And for the rest of us, who were clueless about the meaning of orology, now we know. For anyone who wants to know more about orology but don’t know who to ask, I recommend Wikipedia!

How To Play Tibetan Singing Bowls – Advanced Techniques

Learning the basics of how to play a Tibetan singing bowl is a relatively easy process, but this instrument is capable of producing even more varied and interesting sounds with the right technique. The wah-wah technique and the water technique are two methods that will make playing your Tibetan singing bowl a more enjoyable and interesting experience.

Wah-Wah Technique

To begin this technique, start by singing the bowl in the basic way – by running the mallet around the rim of the bowl until it produces a steady, even sound. Then, release the mallet from the bowl. At this point, the sound should still be reverberating even after you have removed the mallet. Lift the bowl to mouth level, and mouth the syllables “wah-wah.” You do not have to say the sound aloud, as the simple act of just opening and closing your mouth is what modifies the sound of your singing bowl. Experimenting with varying the space between your mouth and the outside rim will change the sound, and you may also notice that if you turn the bowl, there will be spots where the sound is naturally louder than others.

Water Technique

For this technique, you need to put a bit of water in the bowl. The amount of water needed will vary but a good start is about 3/4 inch of water, being careful not to get the rim of the bowl wet. Too much water will interfere with this technique, so be prudent when filling your bowl. After you have added an adequate amount of water, sing the bowl using the basic around-the-rim technique. Once the bowl has starting singing with a clear, even tone, pull the mallet away from the bowl. Then gently begin tilting the bowl and swirling the water. If done correctly, this will produce a sound that sounds something like dolphins singing.

These two techniques, when done correctly, will produce beautiful and unique music from your Tibetan singing bowl that you may have never heard before.
