There is hardly any woman who does not have a fondness for jewelry. Wearing the right jewelry represents the diverse personality traits of women. Regardless of whether it’s a lovely necklace your mother received on her big day (wedding) or a diamond engagement ring you inherited from your grandmother, the tradition of passing down jewelry will never cease. If you really want to shine and sparkle this season, it’s crucial that you keep up with the latest jewelry trends if you’re serious about making a fashion statement this season.

Using the pinky ring for that desirable signature touch will accentuate your personality.
  2. Self Expression on Tailored Designs – Women are nowadays becoming savvy day after day. They unleash sophistication in what they wear. So, it does not come as a surprise why women of today are splurging on tailored designs. When you follow the trend religiously, they make you a center of attraction, no matter what the occasion or function.

How to Create a Personal Leadership Development Plan

Many people think that management and leadership go hand in hand automatically. But just because you are a manager does not mean that you are a leader. Many management techniques are being thrown out the window in favor of leadership skills. But making the transition between manager and leader can be difficult for some. The best way to become an effective leader is by creating a personal leadership development plan.

The first thing that you need to do to create a personal leadership development plan is to understand the difference between management and leadership. While some do not see the difference, others cannot explain it. Quite simply, management is something that you do. It is a career. Leadership is having strength and courage in your convictions, and the ability to see those convictions manifest in reality.

So what are your convictions? You may think that you know what you believe in, but it is important to take a step back and actually list your beliefs and values. There are many assessments available that can help you do this. This important step in creating a personal leadership development plan will likely teach you things about yourself that you yourself did not realize were true. It may seem like a waste of time, but until you know what your convictions are, you cannot manifest them in reality through effective leadership.

Once you have a clear understanding of your convictions, you need to apply them to your organization. Do not look at numbers and people. Look at the overall purpose and mission of the company. Then, narrow your view to your team, and finally yourself. If you do not see your values and beliefs reflected in your actions, the actions of your team, and the actions of the company, then your work is cut out for you.

When creating your personal leadership development plan, first outline your beliefs, ethics, and values. Then, outline the ways that those beliefs, ethics, and values show in your actions within the organization. Are there ways that you need to improve? What support does your team need to obtain personal and organizational success that you have failed to give them? After all, their success is your success. Write down all of your thoughts and ideas for manifesting your convictions in the reality of your team and organization. This is the bare bones of your personal leadership development plan.

Next, do your homework. Talk to your employees, team members, customers, and suppliers to learn what more you can do or be that will assist you in manifesting your convictions and your personal leadership development plan. Sit back and listen to the ideas and feelings of others. This is the only way that you can learn from other perspectives what is needed for organizational or team success. Until you are aware of the changes that need to be made, you will not be able to make any changes for the common good of the organization and your employees.

Remember that while you may be able to affect change in your own small part of the world, the organization as a whole may not reflect your convictions any time soon. Change within large corporations is either very slow or nonexistent. Watch for signs that your personal leadership development plan is making a difference in your immediate environment.

PBS Reports On Student Loans – A Leftist Slant Of Reality

As a conservative or right-leaning gentleman, I can sniff out leftist propaganda quite easily, and mind you, that’s not so hard, considering it is virtually everywhere in our society and has infiltrated our corporations, government and even our own families. Yes, everyone has their point-of-view (POV) on politics and that is perfectly acceptable – except for one thing, on the left it really isn’t someone’s actual POV, rather it is one of a brainwashed mindset from repetition, false argument and propaganda. Let’s take this growing and out-of-control college student loan crisis we are in today.

Did you know that nearly 50% of all student loans are in default or not a single payment has ever been made, with a huge chunk of the outstanding $1.35 Trillion — yes, that’s correct with a “T” — hasn’t shown a payment in over 7-years? We are told, or were told by the Obama Administration that employment is at an all-time-high, now at just over 4%, well then how come no one is paying on their student loans, not even small payments to stay at least in the game?

Now then, there is a YouTube video: “PBS Looks Into The Student Loan Problem,” on the Credit Care Channel, which goes on and on about how Sally Mae collection personnel are misadvising debtors to pay their loans before their rent, health care insurance or house payments, and how borrowers didn’t understand that it was a bad idea to do that. The 25+ minute video makes the student loan borrowers look like victims? What? They are not the victims, we the taxpayers are in many cases, as we are guaranteeing those loans, no not all, but a portion of them.

One estimate was that the taxpayers are on the hook for about $108 Billion of the already in default student loans, ouch. What do I think of this? Well, I think PBS, yes, also partly funded by the taxpayer is making things worse, and their documentaries on this topic are a very leftist view point, following the likes of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders who basically told voters that if they voted them into office there would be forgiven student loans and free-college for everyone.

But, why does PBS make these borrows out as victims, they are not, they owe the money, the taxpayer should NOT bailout this abuse of our system by students, leftists in politics and students. Academia is to blame too, those know-it-alls claiming they care about the kids, BS they care about their pensions, tenure and leftist politics.

If these colleges would teach “Financial Literacy” along with other requirements to get a degree, maybe their students wouldn’t be such deadbeat consumers. Instead academia teaches leftist socialism, brainwashing students. Maybe, it’s okay if the college loan crisis debt bomb bubble pops, NO taxpayer bailouts… We have an academic university system out-of-control partly funded by taxpayers, as the tenured professors act high-and-mighty, but hide out in academia, never having had to make payroll or deal in the free-market.

If you don’t have a problem with those who’ve allowed this student loan debt bomb to lead to a crisis of epic proportions while the bubble is still building – then you are NOT paying attention. Think on this.

What Makes a Home?

We all have to have a roof over our heads don't we? Most of us are lucky that we have, but is it a house or a home?

A house provides shelter for us and our family but a home provides much more. Walking towards your house / home after working all day, is it an attractive prospect or is it just somewhere to get out of the rain and sit down? The reason I ask is that so often you get the wrong advice usually from people who benefit out of it.

I have recently moved to Swansea where there are some lovely little terraced cottages – my wife and I have bought one – with stone walls, a slated roof (someone was given bad advice and put tiles on ours!), Chimneys, timber sash and casement windows, flagstone path, good quality timber door, etc., etc. But I see whole rows which have been covered in beige cement roughcast, whole streets of them, all the same.

Hardly any chimneys remain in some streets with uPVC windows and doors, concrete paths, totally devoid of their original character. A terrace near to us was stripped of its old cement render and the stonework exposed. I had high hopes of it being repointed in lime mortar and shining but, no, beige cement roughcast accompanied the uPVC windows and removal of the chimney stack so we now have a faceless roughcast box in its place.

Why does this happen?

I suppose that it's partly an effort to modernize but does that mean that the original fabric should be forgotten or hidden as if it's something to be ashamed of?

Original / traditional features like timber windows or chimneys are in poor condition. MAINTENANCE SAVES MONEY. It seems that very few of you can be bothered decorating your windows or doors and would rather lose that part of your homes history and character by replacing these troublesome features with plastic, which, I must add, also need replaced after about 10 years. The wooden windows you just got rid of probably lasted for the previous 100 or more … So, would it have been worth decorating or repairing them? Everything can be repaired. Chimneys may no longer be used. IF they are repaired correctly there is no reason they will give you any problems for decades or longer and it helps prevent your home from becoming just a house.

You are asking the wrong question of the wrong person. I have mentioned this before but, if you ask a double glazing salesman if you need windows – guess the answer. If you ask a builder if you need building work done, he'll no doubt find some like removing your chimney or covering your stonework up with beige cement roughcast from the apparently never-ending supply.

The lack of importance of traditional / original features in the community. What sets out an historic town center from a modern one, how do peoples feelings change towards them? Do you enjoy trips to an historic town with different shops and building styles or prefer 1960's, 70's and 80's flat-roofed or concrete slab-fronted buildings with no soul? You probably are mixed but aesthetically, the craftsmanship of the old must win out.

The local authority has some responsibility for this by allowing or not preventing these changes. And it's not just the aesthetic and historic value, these features have an intrinsic value and usefulness. Chimneys, even if there isn't a useable fireplace, can provide ventilation. This is vital for human health, reduces condensation and the risk of some chest complaints, improves air quality and the movement of air in the chimney will help keep it dry.

Sash and casement windows are known as being draughty but this again is good for you and your home, maybe no so good for your heating bills though. Maybe you should expect to be wearing a jumper indoors in the winter and not flip-flops and shorts like my son used to. Old windows can be draught-proofed and double glazed units can be fitted to the same frames however double-glazing salesmen are NEVER going to offer you that option.

If you have a limited budget, as most of us have, it is cheaper to refurbish, repair, mend, decorate, fix, etc., than it is to replace, short and long-term. There is as much value and a great deal more social history in your terraced cottage than there is in the Colosseum or Buckingham Palace so, how about taking some free advice and please consider the consequences of removing something that helps make your house into a home. Or even calling for some advice or to discuss a survey.

Tips for Buying a Baby Clipper for Your Baby

A Saturday Morning in Nigeria

I see two girls with buckets of water on their heads; one is green, the other is black. I see a woman by the well, she’s fetching water from the well, and scolding her child for whatever crime he committed. Mothers are gods.

Some men are gathered in front of a house, holding a meeting of some sort, or probably just gossiping.

“E ra epo e s’ebe” (Buy palm oil and cook your soup). Her voice is the traditional advertising tool, she’s taller than most women around.

A woman holding a yellow keg just passes me by.

Down the street, I see a man struggling with his bike, the thing just doesn’t want to work this morning. I see a shirtless child, probably a girl or boy, its rounded tummy is not enough proof of either gender.

The street is littered with dirt.

There’s a constant noise

A woman is grinding pepper.

I’m wondering if there are no really aged people here unlike where I come from, I’ve barely seen any.

I check the front of each house, but there are none.

The weather is a bit different, rain drizzled a bit yesterday, I like that. It makes a good Saturday morning.

I see one very fine girl, I’ve seen her around a few times. We make eye contact once I look off my phone. She’s probably wondering why I’m all sucked up in my phone, or probably hoping I’ll approach her. Anyway…

A man is coming behind me, he’s making ridiculous sounds with his slippers, he’s dragging his feet, I hate that.

I’m thinking of going to the next street, maybe I’ll see some really aged people. But come to think of it, I’ve not seen a car on this street.. Wow! I’m thinking about my project, too. And also, I’m thinking of how Lagos streets will be contrastingly busy. I’m thinking of how things would be if I had a car, I certainly wouldn’t be walking around aimlessly. I’m thinking of the writing brand I’m working on.

You see, a lot of thoughts.

I am a boy. It’s a Saturday morning here in Nigeria.

The Importance of Brand Messaging for a Successful Website Redesign

I’m sure you’ve landed on someone’s website and felt like something was just… wrong; or maybe you were suddenly turned off without even knowing why.

Chances are, you quickly clicked back to find a competitor’s website, where you felt more comfortable and secure.

Your visitors could feel the same way if you don’t pay attention to how you come across to your target audience.

That’s why it’s crucial to identify your brand style before you redesign your website.

In my latest Tea Time Tip: Marketing For Busy Entrepreneurs, I shared some critical factors to ensuring your website redesign is a success so people feel comfortable, excited and engaged when they land on your site. You can watch it here.

In this article, I’m going to share 5 questions you need to answer to determine your business brand identity and create the most effective website possible.

1. What first impression do you want to give?

You have about five seconds to make a first impression. The key findings from a Google study showed that sites with low visual complexity and high prototypicality (how representative a design looks for a certain category of websites) were perceived as highly appealing.

Long story short: keep it simple and clean.

One of our clients wanted us to create a website for their collectible vintage card business. They do live “rips” of unopened vintage sports cards (working with this type of business was a first for us)!

The challenge was to make their website, which features a huge range of sports cards from a number of decades, easy to navigate.

One of our solutions was to break down cards by year in the right-hand navigation, and to highlight featured packs on the home page.

My advice to you: put a lot of thought into how you organize your home page. If visitors land on a cluttered, confusing page, their first impression is going to be one of overwhelm, and off they’ll go to one of your competitors.

2. How are you using colours, images and fonts?

You should be following your brand guide when it comes to choosing design elements for your website.

If you don’t have a business branding guide, it’s time to create one to identify your style and give direction to team members.

Of course, smaller businesses won’t have as big a brand guide as corporations, but you need something that represents the visual elements of your website, or you’ll end up with a hodge-podge of elements that will confuse your visitors and sabotage your brand awareness.

We want our brand to emanate and the design and style elements we use in all our marketing materials.

3. Are your images high-quality, and delivering purpose and meaning?

Every image you choose for your website tells a story. If you pick poorly-lit photos or tacky stock imagery, you’re giving people the wrong impression. They may see your business as cheap, lazy and unprofessional.

Take the time to make imagery part of your brand identity. Define what you want your images to portray, and what should and shouldn’t appear on your website. Here are some examples I’ve seen in company’s business branding guidelines:

* Use softly-lit, neutral imagery that shows young professionals in a creative environment

* Avoid stock photos where people are looking directly at the camera

* Keep product-focused shots to a minimum; every photo should have at least one person in it

Pick the right photos to show off your unique personality and style, whether you hire a photographer or use stock pics.

There are so many different reasons why a small business owner may decide to rebrand a website: poor conversions and/or sales, confusing navigation or an outdated design, to name a few.

However, it’s essential to have strong reasoning, logic and stats behind rebranding your business. This guide will help you first understand whether or not you need to reinvent your business, and if you do, how to rebrand your website in the most effective way possible.

4. Is your copy telling a compelling story?

The most important thing to remember when you’re writing about your product or service is that it’s about THEM, not you. It’s your opportunity to show and tell customers the benefits of using your product or service.

You can do this with:

* A captivating headline. Which article are you more likely to read: one that has the headline “Write Better Blogs” or one that says “10 Surefire Ways to Write Blogs that Make Money?”

* Concise, yet informative and compelling copy. People get overwhelmed if they land on a website that has a novel on the home page.

Identify brand style and then tell your story succinctly and with purpose: what are the benefits your service offers? How can you help your target audience solve their problem?

Break up copy into digestible paragraphs rather than long blocks of text.

* Avoid industry jargon. Write in your customers’ language. Avoid acronyms they won’t understand, or overly-technical language that only an expert would grasp.

Also, stay away from over-promising, or fluffy claims (Guaranteed to change your life! Lose 10 pounds overnight). Remember, you only have a few seconds to make a first impression.

* Choose your CTAs wisely. Your CTA (call to action) is what your content is guiding your customers towards. It’s the action you want them to take. By using something like “Click here,” you’re not showing your visitors what they’ll get.

Use “Reserve your spot now” or “Start your journey today” or whatever it is that will resonate with your target audience.

5. How easy is it for people to connect with you?

Your contact page should be clearly visible in your top navigation bar, and if you have a physical location, you should embed a map on it along with directions to make it as easy as possible for people to find you.

Take a look at our contact us navigation. We feature it prominently in the top menu bar on every page of our site, plus we give another option right above, which enables our clients to call us for fast, professional service.

Your social media icons should also be front and centre so that people can connect with you on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest… whichever ones are relevant to you.

The more followers you gain, the more opportunities you’ll have to engage your audience and drive leads and sales. Here are some tips on social media selling.

The better you understand the importance of brand messaging, the more effective your website redesign?-and your business?-will be. Ask yourself these important questions and seek the help of a professional website design company to launch the most compelling, engaging and successful website possible! You and your customers will be glad you did.

Laziness As a Misnomer

A mainstay of conservative thought holds that those who are too lazy to better themselves do not deserve consideration. It’s a mentality that reflects an ignorance of human behavior, an apparent lack of empathy toward others, and a worldview that includes selfish thinking.

This mindset serves as the rationale for conservatives to vote against social welfare programs that are designed to assist those less fortunate.

It would seem that there are many who fail to connect the dots when it comes to how conservative thought can cover a wide spectrum of social programs. From cutting public school funds based on the premise that the parents of public school students are moochers who are too lazy to make enough income to cover private school tuitions; to cutting Medicaid, whose recipients are looking for a free hand-out and lack the work ethic to be able to afford medical care like responsible citizens.

Sadly, this notion of ‘laziness’ is a misnomer in terms of human behavior. As a matter of fact, there is no such thing as inherent laziness in nature. This is because the concept of laziness is contrary to a basic drive of all living things, ‘self-preservation’ or ‘the will to live’.

That which is perceived as laziness is simply a lack of motivation, which can be manifested through a number of causes. A lack of motivation or desire for one to do the best they can given their circumstances reflects dysfunctional behavior. Something has gone wrong with the normal scheme of things when someone displays what is perceived to be ‘lazy’ behavior.

It might be suggested that a debilitating lack of self-confidence can serve to make one feel incapable of contributing to society. Helplessness and hopelessness could be included as a cause of diminished motivation. Certainly, forms of emotional disorders such as depression would play a part in someone being possibly perceived as ‘lazy’, and therefore not worthy of getting free hand-outs from hardworking taxpayers. Those who have long since discarded the possibility of a better life through a lack of opportunity should also be considered as a part of our society that stands as a target for derision and intolerance on the part of conservative thinking.

We are currently witnessing a President and Congress who epitomize this heartless conservative view of mooching poor people laying around the house having fun while waiting for their next free government hand-out. This thinking doesn’t give any thought to the homeless because they are out using any money they can obtain to buy booze or drugs… they are entirely dismissed.

The truth is that there are millions of our fellow citizens who have simply hit upon hard times through misfortune or lack the opportunity or means to better their lives. These are people who are in need of a helping hand and deserve our compassion. To brand them as ‘too lazy to get by’ is not only ignorant, it smacks of thinking that’s reflective of arrested emotional development and undeveloped empathy.

THE POSITIVE WORK EXPERIENCE: A Recipe for Leaders

What makes a positive work experience? First and foremost, the work needs to be fulfilling by bringing a sense of accomplishment. Secondly, the environment needs to be one that brings out the best both personally and professionally. So how does that happen?

Respect

It doesn’t matter if you are a CEO or a Janitor; everyone wants to be respected not for their position or title, but a person with something to offer and feelings.

Care

As human beings, we have a need to feel cared for and that does not stop when we go to work. Care means taking an interest in employees as whole people, not just a means to an end.

Recognition

Everyone wants recognition for their contribution; just not in the same way. Recognition in and of itself is not enough, it needs to be personal and meaningful.

Value

We all want to feel like we are valued. Respect, care, and recognition are building blocks of feeling valued. This also sets the stage for creating a positive work experience.

Teamwork

When we are part of a team we feel we are part of something bigger than ourselves. True teamwork is each person being able to contribute to the greater good and supporting the rest of the players.

Inspiration

Leaders don’t create inspiration, they foster it and support an environment where it will take hold and grow. They do this by setting the example of respect, care, recognition, value, and teamwork and by holding others accountable.

The adage that when you take care of your employees they, in turn, take care of your customers is true and it starts with those at the top setting the example. A positive work experience is a culmination of many things that takes work, dedication and intention and the ingredients are like a recipe, everything must be present for it to turn out.

WHAT OTHERS SAY

Some key points can make our employees a factory of positive experiences and the best ambassadors of the company. Then, through technology, it will be easier to make this a constant activity over time.

Meeting the well-being of their employees is not just a question of benefits or social responsibility: it is a condition sine qua non for the business to achieve the set results in the best possible way. Not to mention the advantages obtainable in terms of efficiency and cost management. Flexible organizational models are in fact those on which the so-called extended enterprise can be created and social collaboration tools can be applied, which by now, at the turn of internationalization and tasks that cannot be relegated to specific geographical areas or limited to the traditional office, is not plus an option.

Extended enterprise means putting employees at the center of a flexible organization, facilitating work everywhere (smart working) while ensuring usability and above all security: it means sharing of documents, collaboration tools, access to central systems, new architectures and applications, all coordinated through new organizational models. ~Aldo Deli Paoli

How Long Should You Follow a Diet?

When you start a diet, the goal is not to lose weight as quickly as possible and then stop. A diet should be a learning process for a healthy diet. The question then is: how long should you follow a diet?

In this article, we tell you how long you should follow a diet and when you should stop. That is necessary to know because many people have no idea. When it comes to diets, people mainly think of

  • hunger
  • willpower
  • fatigue

From the moment we start a diet, we focus on the day we think we can achieve our goal. Then we want to resume our old eating habits. This is of course not wise.

We will therefore not only explain below how long you should follow a diet, but we will also discuss how you can continue your healthy diet after you have reached your ideal weight.

The weight that you should lose

The first thing you should know if you decide to follow a diet is how much weight you should lose. You can calculate this yourself with the BMI. For this, you only need your own weight and height and then you can determine your ideal target weight.

It is also important that you have this checked by a specialist or the doctor. These experts will guide you and help you find your ideal weight.

You should use your BMI as a recommendation and not become obsessed with it. Use it to create a healthy lifestyle and find your own well-being.

Once you start a diet, remember that you should not lose more than a pound a week. So forget all those wonderful diets. Instead, you need to lose weight slowly and constantly. That is the only way to prevent a kickback.

Instead of dieting, just learn to eat healthier

A diet is much more than just losing weight. It is also:

  • learn to eat healthy
  • sports
  • value the benefits of weight loss

You may think that it is difficult to achieve your goal, but in reality, you can continue to enjoy good food. Learn new recipes, find new products and add a routine with exercises to your daily life.

Mind you, we do not mean that you should continue to diet for the rest of your life. Once you have reached your ideal weight, you can relax a bit. You don’t always have to be strict with yourself.

Yet that does not mean that you have to fall back on your old diet, because then your diet will ultimately prove to be meaningless. Try to find the golden mean, so that you can keep your weight and thereby spoil yourself now and then.

Exercise is good

If you start a new sport while following a diet, find a workout that suits you. Then you stay in shape and you escape the daily stress for a while. There are many sports that you can do. So choose one. This is great fun if it is an activity that you can do together with you:

  • partner
  • friends
  • family

How long should you follow a diet?

Do you already know how long you should follow a diet? As we have said, a diet does not have to have a definitive end. However, they do have a point where you must stop and that is usually when you have reached your ideal weight.

We are all different and that is why you can lose more weight one week than the next. If you lose less weight, it could be due to:

  • whether your week is busy or relaxing
  • hormonal changes
  • many other factors

Do not start on a strict diet

In any case, you should never start a strict diet if you want to lose a specific amount of weight per week. The important thing is that you remember to never stop trying to lose weight.

Once you follow a diet, it doesn’t matter if you reach your goal a few weeks later. You should also not follow a too-strict diet whereby you may not, for example, do the following:

  • consume different types of food
  • eating out with your friends
  • visiting family parties

It is not forbidden to stop your diet sometimes, as long as you start again, that is always the most important thing!

Moreover, a strict diet will only discourage you and it will not give you the strength to continue. It may be effective in the first few weeks, but we don’t recommend it. In the long term, it is not sustainable.
